For any fans of the original BOI - or indeed any of McMillen's other games.

Rebirth is a huge revamp on the tear-based basement classic, throwing in a whole load of new, gruesome enemies and items, all with an updated art style and soundtrack.

If you enjoy frustratingly difficult roguelikes with sadistic themes, come pray before the Gods of RNG and test your mettle.

Fun, fast paced platformer with extremely simple controls. I recommend for its addictive gameplay and fun design, however there are a few cons:

- Movement can be a little slippery, whereas you'd expect much tighter controls
- The cannons firing on any movement control can cause unwanted death and shots (please make it one dedicated button)
- The game can suffer from occasional stuttering and freezing

Despite this, Mechanic Escape still holds up as an entertaining time waster and its use of 'bosses' across each level really add to the sense of challenge and urgency throughout.

Cemented in the struggles of everyday life, Always Sometimes Monsters focuses heavily on the morality, ethics and distance we are willing to travel for our desires. Although it suffers a little from linearity (choices against this essentially end with 'you did this, game ends here then'), there are many different paths and decisions you can choose to follow, and for that I highly recommend it.
