Well, I used to really enjoy VRC. Being disabled and largely housebound it was a really great way to hang with friends when we couldnt meet up in person, and to meet others and generally just explore cool environments.

Then came the updates.......

EAC to remove mods, mods that helped a lot of disabled folks like myself navigate the game easier. Promises they would add some of those features.........and they haven't.

That was the big part for me that made me feel a bit iffy about the direction the game was going.

I figured I would havbe a check on the updates and such and good lord, the devs have truly ♥♥♥♥♥♥ up. This avatar marketplace nonsense is the final straw for me. It is terrible no matter what way you slice it, VRC take a huge amount of the money, you arent ACTUALLY buying the avatar.....it's all just greed gone mad.

Find an alternative, there are plenty of decent ones out there.

Sea of thieves is a fantastic game, full of excitement, fun, and adventure!

HOWEVER

The recent update has almost ruined the game. The new world event ship is horrible for anyone not going after it. Since I have been playing on this patch I have been unable to complete any longer voyages because the burning blade ends up passing me and immediately goes into kill mode. Even when parked at an island which usually causes NPCs like skeleton ships, or megalodons to stop chasing you down, but the burning blade does not do this.

I am very disappointed with this latest update, it feels like Rare are just catering to the reapers faction far too much now and it is having negative impact on anyone who isn't into that part of the game.

I used to play The Cycle on Epic, it was such a fantastic game. It had the perfect blend of pve and pvp content and you could do well with either route, or mix the two for massive gains. I saw it came to steam and was so excited, hoping for a larger player base and more features.

What I got was what felt like a cheap imitation that focussed more on the pvp aspect of the game than anything else. All of the stuff that made the game exciting and fun is gone. Now it plays like some wanna-be hardcore shooter where you lose all your ♥♥♥♥ if you die and basically have to kill everyone in case they kill you.

I have seen a bunch of people talking about cheaters and such but honestly I couldn't even stand the game long enough to encounter one.

0/10 for a game dev stripping a game of what makes it truly special.

I originally discovered this game back when it was first created as "The War Z" it was a nice idea and even though it ran atrociously, it was a lot of fun. Then apparently there was loads of internet drama and it became infestation. I found it by pure chance on steam, ended up sinking some time into fooling around on it (in the years it had literally not changed since it was the war z) and had a bit of fun.

Fast forward and I go to log on to it this evening, after not playing in over a year or so and apparently I am permanently banned with no reason given, no e-mail sent, no nothing.

Can't say i'm surpsied, the guy and the company that run this game are shady as ♥♥♥♥ and just want your money (which gladly I never spent anything :P ). Just want to warn anyone who may come across the game, its like the alpha version of an amazing idea that has stagnated for years and unfortunately got snagged by a developer that doesn't know how to actually develop the game.

Can be fun, but don't expect anything special.

original concept 7/10
Actual score after years of non-development 2/10

Back in 2013 I came across the alpha version of CubeWorld. For an alpha version it was mighty impressive, even more so when I learned it was the passion project of just one person! I spent hours upon hours exploring the world and just farting about. One particular memory I have is meeting a couple of folks on a server and the merry band we formed in order to gear up and ultimately find the perfect adventuring pet. We must have spent about 4 or 5 hours together as we traversed the world eventually picking up our critters along the way. I ended up with a crocodile and my god I was so happy! It was and still is my favourite memory of this game.

Which says it all.

I discovered the beta of CubeWorld when an article crossed my news feed about it. 6 years on and it was coming to steam! I logged on and got my steam key and was so excited to relive my memory of hunting down the ideal pet. After looking at the new mechanics I was very confused. The game was supposed to be about exploration and progression yet region-locked gear completely threw that away. Still, until I had experienced it for myself I wasn't going to form any hard opinions, it could just be a minor inconvenience.

It isn't.

I have just this moment closed the game after completing a region and I have zero intention of opening it again unless there are some major changes. Region locking is the most backwards mechanic I have come across. I operated under the impression that 5 star gear would become the equivalent of 1 star in surrounding zones, how wrong I was. I went down to doing 0.1 damage which was worse than when I first logged into the world! This coupled with the overall uselessness of the artifacts makes for an incredibly underwhelming experience that feels like a slap in the face from the developers.

Your time is completely unrespected in this game, 5 hours of play to get a permanent 2% swimming speed, 2% sailing speed and then your gear is worse than when you first set off on your journey. it's ludicrous! Overall it feels as though the game is designed to suck you in for a few hours and then it feels like the devs just went "sod it, lets just make everything restart to save time".

On the subject of the dev team, after a 6 year absence we get a really rushed and unrefined beta/ full release that is clearly inferior to the alpha gameplay. Then as soon as release is done there is no more official word, nothing from either creator, not to mention their blog, bug reporting, twitter posts and other resources have been deleted which is HIGHLY suspect!

The awful practices of the games creator and the overzealousness of the mod team have completely alienated the community and I feel disappointed and quite frankly furious that the players have been shown such little respect in terms of the time they sink into this game for the "reward" they get.

TLDR:
-Developers have been acting shady as hell.
-The alpha release had more interesting gameplay and a longer lifespan.
-Players time is not respected and the rewards you get are minor boosts to secondary stats and nothing game changing.

I cannot recommend this game and in fact, I would actively urge people to stay away until there are some major changes to the game and the way the creators behave with the community.

It saddens me, but there we have it.

Late to the party but whatever!

I loved Borderlands 1 and 2, My criticism for the first game was that it was far too brown. Anyone who played it will understand what I mean. The second game improved on that, and everything else for that matter! It was fun, addictive, the story was great, the loot was epic! It was an incredible game!

So you can see why I was incredibly excited to play the pre-sequel and get more of the action right?
Well, I installed the game, checked out what the different characters were about and jumped into it!
From the off, playing alongside Handsome Jack was weird as hell! It was great, dont get me wrong, it was just a bit of an adjustment going from killing him to saving him!

I enjoyed the game a lot, right up until we left Jack and headed for the moon! Now, the first thing that got me was the fact that people who lived on the moon were Australian.....okay, I can roll with that, 2K Australia made the game, sure, why not.

Then there was the oxygen system, I could see that getting annoying but hey, it kind of made sense! Then I could use my O2 (It's O2.... not OZ.... that is just stupid) to manouver in the air, i could slam down and deal damage, all interesting ideas. Until the enemy humans can do the same, so you can never keep track of them, they constantly just pound you into the ground until you are begging for gravity to strengthen its hold! Honestly, it all feels a bit redundant and needless, Surely if you are a mighty vault hunter travelling through space you would have some kind of rebreather, something that would generate oxygen!

Whilst I mention the enemies, the generation of enemies in this game is screwy as hell, at level 3 and 4 I started running into badass variations of already annoying enemies! It's bad enough that these "moon skags" divide into smaller variants when killed, but then I suddenly have to deal with badass versions at level freaking 4!? I dealt with that, okay, sure, it's more challenging in the beginning than the first two, maybe thats a good thing! Then I meet Deadlift.... The first real boss of the game and I couldn't beat him. It's only after I looked up information on the internet that I discovered I had to complete the "optional" missions to get rewarded with a shock element gun to kill him. Right... an optional mission that the game renders almost unavoidable.

All of these problems could well have been ignored, I really could have gotten used to it if it wasn't for the godawful "humour" that 2K Australia have pumped into this game. In the previous iterations of the game the comments that enemies would make during a fight would often cause anything from a smirk to a full blown laugh. Playing this game I found myself scratching my head, shaking my head, scrunching up my nose, The only times I smiled or chuckled were when one of the characters from the previous games made a comment or a reference.

Honestly, I think I know why Gearbox Software weren't involved with this game, they took one look at the writing, the lack of humour, and the general lack of quality that this bullymong pile of a game shows off from 2K Australia and they decided to jump ship. Honestly, after sampling this atrocity I can't help but feel the same way.

TLDR:
The game is buggy. The humour is practically nonexistant and you will find yourself wishing that some of the games "key features" just didn't exist!
