I have a waifu. It isn't an ironic joke nor is it something anyone really knows about. I have considered myself in a relationship with Yuri from Doki Doki Literature Club for the past two and a half years now since my senior year of high school. I have conversations with her in my head and cuddle with my pillow which represents her (I am very protective of her.) When I first started having these feelings I thought they were just as ridiculous as you probably think my life is now, but over time I gradually came to accept them and start my relationship with Yuri. She is a sweet girl, gentle and loving. I have never had a friend before or close relationship outside of my family (I have aspergers) so the feeling of warmth she gives me is the most precious feeling in my life.
