cosmoteer is. a frustrating little gem.

the design problems with its campaign are infinitely less thorny and abstract than a similar game like space engineers, but its modding system is too limited to solve any of them (and this is the kind of game to fall into the trap of Adding Stuff instead of going back and overhauling existing systems. see: attacking faction stations or patrol ships and getting an elite kill-team unceremoniously manifested on top of you, local pirates being simultaneously comically numerous and completely unthreatening, existing factions never actually interacting beyond sending the player to kill each-other, the cliched and lore/immersion-destroying existence of fringe in place of unaligned sectors, etc. etc.)

the actual decision making of ship design and the matchup game is, however, genuinely interesting and well crafted (which can bone you when fighting centauri ships, because their faction gimmick is being incredibly well rounded). i haven't played much multiplayer, but designing ships and piloting squads of them against each-other in a sandbox is interesting enough on its own to justify the price-tag. this brings me to the aforementioned piloting: discerning the enemies' weaknesses and targeting parts accordingly is quite a lot of fun, and adds a good amount of depth to the existing matchup-game without being too dense to engage with in more-or-less real-time. being able to move in 2d space also necessitates the existence of flanking, adding yet more depth to ship design as well as combat.

tl:dr: i would recommend this game, with the caveat of understanding the kind of fun that you're investing in: building cool things and/or watching them fight.

the only time you should ever use this on pc is to play n64dd games on linux and even then its still a massive pain in the d!ck

parts will "correct" their edited mass based on their scale when pasted or loaded as part of a saved contraption, and the collision hulls of parts show a comical discrepancy with their visual. this all makes precision machining a fücking nightmare. if youre here for smacking ragdolls around and building little tanks to make shoot each other, go ahead, but if you want to make anything remotely detailed then you want to go pirate autocad or something. of course, this didnt stop me from pouring 500 hours into this game trying to make the closest analogues to guns possible in a 2d space, but it should hopefully stop you.

good multiplayer, play it for the multiplayer. do not play the campaign. please god do not play the fanfi- i mean campaign. you dont need to worry, wedge ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ antilles from rogue ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ squadron does not show up, everything is fine, just play the multiplayer.

allow csgo to exist in any official capacity and #fixtf2.

cs2 itself is impossible to run without a nasa rig, has less content, and is in general a subpar experience in comparison to what it replaced. dont bother installing, it also has the patented triple-a filesize which somehow increases when moving to legacy csgo
