Starmade is a free game (direct from star-made.org) that you can purchase on Steam for $14.99. It has simple yet deep systems that build upon each other in the process of building the perfect star station, capitol ship, or mining vessel. These systems drastically change and make you relearn the game each time the temperamental core community votes for a change from the old system every few months. From shield systems you have built into your saved ship blueprints to the mechanics and correct scaling of power blocks and distribution - all that can be swept away and a new learning curve implemented in the next patch/"update" in the name of progress. After nearly 12 years this game is still having an identity crisis.

This game equivalent to riding down a mountain on a unicorn while drinking from a goblet filled with the laughter of children.
