This game is frustrating, not bad, but frustrating. The level design has some issues, I spent a good amount of time just trying to figure out where to go at some points, but otherwise it's mostly an issue with platforming, which isn't helped by the bottom of the map being a death plane instead of just teleporting you back up. The one and only weapon you're given feels weak in both modes. The hat, the gimmick of the game itself, feels incredibly janky, sometimes it goes where you want, but most of the time for me it didn't, probably because I was trying to teleport too far away, but the proper range of the hat isn't conveyed to the player in any way other than trial and error, so it's hard to gauge where you're going to be teleported to.

Give the game a try, it's free, you lose nothing for doing so, and it's got potential.

This has quickly become my favorite sandbox game. I play Space Engineers to make complex mechanisms, I play Garry's Mod to make buildings and use Wiremod to make autonomous machines, I play Starship EVO for it's flexible building system, and I absolutely loved the aesthetic of Astroneer, and this game feels like the best parts of all of them, with no clang, no Source spaghetti, intuitive building, and the perfect polished soft and cute sci-fi aesthetic. This feels like a complete package to me, I don't need a survival mode, or a puzzle mode, I just wanna make stuff, and it makes me wish I was a millionaire so I could throw as much money at the developers as possible for their hard work, even if the game doesn't get developed any more.

GTTOD is one of if not THE smoothest movement shooters I've ever played, wallrunning doesn't feel like an advanced movement mechanic, it feels like a basic movement mechanic, like a natural extension of the moveset, rather than a tacked on feature like in a lot of other movement shooters, or games trying to be.

I would criticize aspects of the game like it's difficulty and bugs, but those things are already being worked on as we speak, this is an early access dev that actually gives a damn about his game, and puts in the effort to make it better every time you check up on it, not to mention how active he is in his community.

All that's not even mentioning the game's e x q u i s i t e aesthetic and style, the neon look, the low poly models, the badass music, and the amazing weapon animations with just enough urgency and bounce.

I could probably keep writing for another few paragraphs, but here's the crux:
Buy this game, if you like Titanfall 2, horde shooters, and roguelites (or even if you don't, I generally don't like them), you'll like this, I know it sounds cliche to say "You'll like this movement shooter if you like Titanfall 2", but it's more true here than ever.

Unless you've already got a full crew ready to go, don't buy the game, but that doesn't mean it's a bad game, it's really cool, from aesthetic, to mechanics, and just overall fun factor. It's just quite literally not possible without a full crew, and you won't get full coordination unless it's you and some friends, and $17.59 is a big ask for a game that barely anybody knows about, let alone the $21.99 price tag it has by default.

Liked knocking things off shelves and causing chaos. Absolutely loved the worldbuilding, aesthetic, and setting overall. Stealth was a but iffy. Laid down in a particular scene for a full hour before ending the game because I was emotionally destroyed, I hope they make a sequel or DLC.

Laggy, buggy, and barely functional, and there's not many good DarkRP servers anymore, the most played gamemode.

Edit: Still terrible, I barely play it anymore.

Edit Edit: Almost 2000 hours later, almost every good server is dead or shut down, the peak of Garry's Mod was years ago, there's almost no reason to buy or play it unless it's to hang out with a couple friends and dozens of addons.

Edit the Third: I have surpassed 10k hours, that is over a full year of continuous playtime, and I still have not found a single server worth playing on for longer than a week, and the only reason I open the game now is to work on PAC3 outfits, browse the workshop for actually good addons (and barely ever find any), or work on developing maps and addons that will never be released.

Edit 4: I'm done now, the PAC3 outfit I've been working on for years has once again been broken by a recent PAC3 update, yet more time and effort wasted, and it makes me wish there was something like Garry's Mod with DarkRP-like features and playermodel customizer like PAC built in, and not built on top of an engine that wasn't made for it.

Planetoid Pioneers is a paid demo. (or not... check the bottom of the review for an edit I added)

I bought this game because it reminded me of Cortex Command, which I played a long time ago. This game gave me the nostalgia of playing it again, but Cortex Command gives you everything at full price, this game is just as fun, until you finish the levels. In cortex command it would make sense to jump into the editor, make your own content for the game, create your own fun. Planetoid Pioneers instead stops you dead in your tracks and says you have to pay 3x as much to get those priviledges, and the game is mainly supported by the fanbase, which has only just started and will probably die just as soon. So if you want a full game that is cheaper, more customizable, and just as fun to play, if you're okay with lower graphics, just get Cortex Command.

EDIT: If you've read this far, this was the first version of my review, the game is still in development and is gonna change after early access. Both versions of the game are gonna merge, I didn't know that, so now you can know too, it's a demo because it's not done, but it will be soon. So if you want something as good, or even better than cortex command, just wait a small bit and you'll get it.
