This is the Terminator game I've always wanted and hope Bitmap Bureau can get their hands on more licenses that desperately need the same 2D treatment.

Yes I am recommending the game, but do not buy it for more than $15.
I had no idea this game existed until today (I totally misread the release date and thought it was new) but as a fan of both the IP and Metroidvania's, I decided to purchase based on the mostly positive reviews. The concept for the game is great, being a human attempting to survive Kaiju destruction is great and I'd like to see more games use it. The gameplay is where issues start to rear their head. The combat is awful, you'll be doing the same repetitive attack block combination nearly every encounter and occasionally trying to decide if its worth using some of your limited ammunition to speed things up. The story is very mediocre with some of the worst voice acting I've heard in a video game in recent memory. The puzzles and exploration are incredibly shallow and the "realistic platforming" can lead to accidentally taking damage pretty frequently.
So why do I recommend this game? While its incredibly mediocre there is some fun to have here if you want a breezy Metroidvania. You can complete the game in just a few hours and I think if you're a fan of the Monsterverse you'll get something out of it. The sequences where you need to evade Kong or the other monsters are the highlight, some returning characters from the movies were a nice touch, and the visuals are pretty nice to look at.
So this isn't really an enthused recommendation, but if you're looking for something simple to waste a few hours and are a fan of the Monsterverse or Kaiju in general, I think you'll enjoy this game.

Don't let the mostly positive reviews fool you. This game is so aggressively bad.

I rented this game in 2012 and I knew it sucked back then. I decided to replay all the games in the series again hoping I'd have some new appreciation for it but no, its somehow worse. This isn't just bad as a Resident Evil game, it has gameplay on par with Ride to Hell Retribution, terrible third person shooting intercut with awful quick time events. How this has mostly positive reviews on Steam will remain a mystery to me. Either its ironic or the biggest idiots on the platform actually like this game.

After ten more hours, finishing Leons campaign and nearly finishing Chris' campaign, I will reaffirm. This game f**king sucks.

I was hesitant to pick this game up but to my surprise its a really well made game that I can't stop thinking of as Reverse Castlevania.

It's great but oof the issues with creating a private lobby are brutal.

My favorite game of all time is Resident Evil 4. It seems like every game in the series that has come out since then hasn't been as good or in the case of Resident Evil 5, Operation Racoon City, and Umbrella Corps really bad. I went into Resident Evil 7 with caution, having enjoyed last summers teaser and seeing some positive early reviews changed my mind however. Thank god they did. Resident Evil 7 is great. The game has a great balance between horror and comedy with very clear homages to The Evil Dead movies thrown throughout. The new style of gameplay works really well and I am looking forward to the upcoming DLC that Capcom has planned. The game is newcomer friendly but there is payoff for longtime fans of the series. Well worth the money I spent.

I bought this game knowing nothing about it and only needed to see 1 screenshot to get me to purchase it. I played it all the way through in the middle of the night and don't regret a minute of it.
