I had forgotten why STS1 was one of my favorite games, but within an hour of playing STS2 it all came back to me. Everything about the core gameplay loop is so polished and delicious. The new characters and playstyles are also super interesting and each update brings in some new flavor and fun changes to check out. 5/5

This game is easily in my top 10 games list and after the week long binge I just did after picking it up after a couple years on the shelf I'd probably say it's in my top 3. It's deeply complicated and nuanced, has a rewarding playloop that feels organic, surprising and emotional twists and turns from the roguelike elements, and a chaotic yet cozy atmosphere that makes it so pleasant to get lost in. I won't be surprised if I end up with over 1000 hours in the game by the time I'm done with it.

This game has been a surprising gem! The gameplay does an amazingly good job at marrying single player exploration, discovery, and action with an excellently thought out base economy, defense, and management system. On top of all that it even gives you a simple, but attractive backdrop to build your most creative and intricate little worlds in. After 25 hours I'm still getting pulled in to "just 1 more day" loops polishing my hill fort turned quaint hamlet and I could see endless hours of fun in multiplayer building masterpieces with friends while laughing about the accidental gaps we left in our defenses that caused dozens of our poor little townies to get eaten. We even get updates and dev blogs still! (Thanks devs for not abandoning this one, I love it)

I yell at my colonists when they ruin the perfect life I've planned for them with their petty tantrums. Yes, your lover died putting out the raiders' fires, but they weren't really contributing much to colony and your whining won't bring them back. 10/10
