-Lackluster story that only serves to make you explore
-Issues with getting stun-locked by monsters
-over-reliance on clutch-claw (Iceborne Expansion only)

UGLY
-grindy as hell
-gameplay loop gets repetitive after a while


Unless you're a fan, I recommend waiting for a sale and then buying both the game and its Iceborne expansion. You'll have to overlook the frustrating ui elements and moderately repetitive/clunky gameplay mechanics. Thankfully, the dopamine hit from killing cool monsters and crafting their gear makes up for most of this.

The best game that you can get for $10 hands down. I've grown up with this game, playing it off and on for the past 6 or 7 years, and it's the only game I have a documented 1,000 hours on with no other games I've ever played even coming close to that in playtime. Even so, it is not surprising since the replay value of this game is INSANE, with a multitude of classes to main on every playthrough such as melee, ranger, sorcerer, and summoner, and different ways to play each due to the variety of weapons supported for each class allowing for subclasses (e.g. choosing to go guns-only on ranger or a yoyo build on melee). One of the biggest and only turnoffs I can see for newcomers to this game is how slow it may seem at the very start, but trust me, if you're interested in games where you start off as a pleb and by the end you practically become a GOD (unless on master mode, lol) then get this game! If for whatever reason you haven't decided to put the money down to purchase this game up to this point, I recommend that this be next on your list, because I can almost guarantee that you will love this game.
