The hardest thing to get right in a roguelite game is the single game loop - does it feel fun to play through a whole run? It does in the case of Windblown and that puts it up in the top 5% of all roguelikes in my experience.

With that said, it's very flawed in its current state:
Firstly, having new starting weapon spawns after giving up just means you're going through extra steps to implement starting weapon choices. JUST HAVE ONE STARTING WEAPON THAT YOU CAN CHOOSE. I don't want to give up 5 times on round start just to start with a weapon I like.
Secondly, I don't get the whole needless dashing through empty spaces and bashing pots. I'm sure this was a deliberate and seemingly fundamental choice but it's not fun although I don't expect it to change. I HATE this aspect of the game.
Thirdly, I personally feel the game is quite punishing with the lack of healing spots and some non-boss enemies dealing 120 damage to my 200 damage character but that might just be a developmental choice that I can understand.

Overall, it's a roguelite with fun core gameplay - a rare quality. Ultimately, I just hope they fix things so that getting a build you have in mind going isn't as much of a chore. Fun otherwise.

It's barely a positive review. The game expects you to spend 100s of hours on it to learn all the opponent moves to play it "properly" while rewarding players who learn strings and spam them continuously. You're expected to learn its counter, input a precise string for it and counter it with another move. And repeat until you realize this is way too much of a time investment for it to be worth the reward. Yet, somehow it's fun if you have the nerve to keep going. Try it at your own risk.
