Ill start this off by saying this is my favourite game ever, and it earned that entirely on its own, while having to compete in a genre that was already dominated by other existing games.

Path of exile is one of the most fun-to-play and inherently addicting ARPG's out there. I have played since the beta and this game was in heavy competition with as well as being criticised for being a "Diablo clone". And you know what, at the time that's what it seemed like. But since then, the game has grown to be more than that, in my opinion it has grown to become what Diablo 3 should've been. Path of Exile is one of the few games these days where the developers care more about the game than you do. They are transparent about patch notes and whats going on, and continue to listen to community feedback. Every new league is something refreshing and adds a large amount of content for new and old players alike. After having played over 3000 hours on this game, I still come back each league to experience the new content with everyone else, and I admit, its just as addictive as the first time I played. Although, admittedly the game was very confusing when I first started back then, it has come a long way. New players may still find it confusing, but unlike back then, there are many learning tools and guides that now that didn't exist five years ago.

If what you're looking for, is a simple "should I play this game?", well the answer is up to you. It is an amazing game, but the learning curve is steep, though it is heavily rewarding, it will throw some new players off. My advice is just play the game out the first time you get it, and don't worry so much about making mistakes. Odds are, you'll start over once you get the hang of things and want to "perfect" you're character.
