Reviewed after the first campaign was completed.

As far as city management games are concerned, this is pretty much as cozy as you can get while maintaining a logistical chain for resource management. It's well-designed, it's enjoyable, and I do want to play the other campaigns.

There are minor annoyances, it is a bit rough around the edges, there are some obvious QoL opportunities, but it's nice not to have to micromanage every aspect of everything.

Recommended.

Gameplay-wise, this game has a few rough edges, but it's still a near top tier logistics management game / city-builder.

If you want a game that is as mechanically tight as can be, you might want to look at Factorio instead.

However, the game really makes up for it with its rich historical theme, where it shines bright. It's also one of the rare games where I wasn't compelled to turn off the in-game music in favor of my own, so that's a plus.

Any game that has you playing through the night, and has you go to bed when the day breaks because you were so thoroughly enthralled, is a win. If you wake up too few hours later, still singing songs from the game, you know you found a gem.

It's a fine little 2hr game. I'd recommend Ad Fundum or Mining Mechs above it, though.

I love the original, and this is better than it, albeit marginally. If you can get the original on discount at half the price of this one, go for the original. If you just want to play the better game, go for this one. It feels pretty much like a DLC.

The game play is addictive, yet repetitive. A full run, if you don't get stuck along the way, will take you somewhere between 20 and 30 hours, easily.

I achieved a top 300 score, which is bound to go down in the future, as I don't think I'll attempt another run for quite a few years.

Quite simply the best open world game ever released.

It's an hour-long experience, and that's about the proper length for a mechanically fun, if very basic, game. I'm also surprised that games with a playtime this short exist in a 2-hr refund window Steam world.

I can't help but feel like the assets and artistic directions are way too elaborate for a game of this simplicity, but hey, well done.

I adored the exploration and crafting mechanisms in the game. Discovering new biomes was a rewarding experience, one that must've felt even better long ago, when the game came out.

That said, the story failed to hook me, it felt like any old generic basic sci-fi alien story that I had to suffer through. Not only that, but once you've discovered and explored biomes, it becomes a game of endless travel; thank devs for warp commands, as I almost gave up on the game after spending an hour getting to a spot, finding out I missed an item, going back to my base, going back to the location, finding out I was missing another item, and what I needed to craft it was elsewhere... transit is tedious.

A bit less grinding would've made this a slam dunk recommendation. As is, though, it's a flawed, but good, game.

It's a bit of a buggy mess. Some events are straight up unwinnable. Some design choices make little sense (why have an aggressive out-of-time counter in a lapped race?).

Would need a lot more work.

It's a mild recommendation.

The core of this game is fantastic, the mix of comedy and film noir hits just right, is but everything feels like it's a few iterations away from being polished enough.

I look forward to playing This is the Police 2 and see if it feels less prototypey.
