This game is pretty fun to play and is relatively simple to understand from the beginning. I would consider this a pretty casual game with light horror that is easy to pick up and play for a bit and then sign off with its very generous save point (every time you dock in port and/or leave port it saves). It has a cute art style with an easy to understand fishing mini-game that occasionally changes up its mechanics, but rarely does it ever feel punishing. I will say that some of the dredging for treasures can get a bit difficult, but the fishing side of it is pretty easy.

If you like fishing, deep sea horrors, and inventory management (RE4 style) this game is for you, but be warned, this may awaken some phobias you might not have known you had landlubber!

If you ever dreamed of being the bullet in a bullet hell game, this is the game for you! It has four controls: UP, DOWN, LEFT, and RIGHT, yet it is so much fun! Hold onto your seats, as you will be wowed at how much carnage you can dish out with just four buttons! I've never played a rogue-like that was so simple, yet fun! All you do is walk around and avoid enemies while your auto-attacks melt them. You do have risk; you can die easily, but this game ramps up to ludicrous speed once you've gained a few buffs and, at one point, it became so chaotic that I could barely walk forward in my attempt to move through the room! 11/10, would buy again!

This game is what I dreamed of in an RE game! It took pretty much all the good stuff that came out of the newer RE engine and newer games/remakes and went back to RE4 with the formula. The story has great pacing and keeps you seated the whole time with the occasional lull to relax you for a bit then bring you right back into the action again. This game really covers the spectrum of survival horror and just regular horror games and does a great job of not being overly used. It does use typical tropes found in all horror movies and games, but it doesn't reuse them over and over again until your tired of them or numb to the experience.

Overall, I highly recommend Village if you ever wanted a great "solo" Resident Evil game to play. Of course, I'm one of the weirdos that enjoys the Co-op games since they are a shared experience and fun to take on with your friends. Village, by itself, is a great game and the icing on the cake is the twisty story that unravels itself and forms connections that tie this to the other games in the series.

10/10 Highly recommended!

This game is pretty good if your into RPGs. I do like that you can choose who your party will consist of from a total of 6 playable characters instead of it already choosing your main character and your supporting cast. Seems to be balanced with whoever you decide to put on your team and you even run into the characters you did not choose in the story so it isn't as if they aren't in the game; it is just limited on what you learn about their background because they aren't in your party. Story is fairly simplistic and the game doesn't really promote exploration too much. It pretty much tells you where to go with a gold star on your map for all objective based things. Even side events, though few exist, are pretty much handed to you on the map. There are chest to find and 'lil cactus to find that aren't spelled out, but don't expect to talk to some random person in a town and receive a fetch quest as they don't have much to say...

Game runs smooth and I have had no issues with the game whatsoever and it runs fairly smooth on my PC. It is simple in the settings department, but this isn't a AAA best graphics available game so it shouldn't be too hard to run. Still looks good despite its limited settings.

My only complaint so far is the camera in combat is a little annoying. I find myself getting hit by enemies because you have to manually control the camera to aim your attacks. The camera is totally player controlled and does not follow your character or attacks. This can be a little frustrating at times when your trying to go for perfect combat events and get bonus EXP. I usually get hit by a guy off-screen or while trying to maneuver my camera around to get a better view only to miss the timing on a dodge and getting hit in the process.

All-in-all, it is a good game so far. Wish it had more of what RPGs usually have, but it isn't really atrocious so I think it is still worth a play. Really similar to Octopath Travelers if you have played that (in regards to the party system); though you don't get to find the ones you didn't choose later and join them to your team. I feel like, if you enjoyed any other Square title then you should really enjoy this one too. I know this is supposed to be a re-imagining of an old title that was never released in the US (until recently with Collection of Mana), but I haven't noticed the game making references to any of the other games in the Series(?). Seems pretty stand-alone to me and story is all here. Combat is good and everything is kept pretty simple. Interfaces are all easy and intuitive to use and the Ring system for Spells and Items are handy (also pauses game when you access them).
