This game is AMAZING and I love it - the developer could charge for DLCs and I would own every one of them just like Powerwash Simulator :) The storyline is creative and engrossing, the graphics are fantastic, I just love it. The latest update is Insane too!

I've played it for exactly one hour. That was in two separate sessions, I didn't have a huge amount of time to set aside for exploring but I wanted to get in since I paid $99 for the founders set.
I probably won't pick this game up again.
This game relies on the kindness of strangers and we all know how kind strangers are in a resource-driven sandbox game. It feels impossible to get enough basic resources together to build, and when you have to walk by claimed plots where people have just built out storage box after storage box while you're scrounging for sticks it gets old, and infuriating.
I claimed a plot and got just enough resources to build one square of a foundation after an hour of gameplay, and honestly I don't even know how I managed that. There just isn't enough material close by to put together a home in a reasonable amount of time. I have no interest in having to cross half the map just to get to some stone or clay so I can have a basic house. It feels like you fall behind when you're not in game too, like everything is just gonna get exponentially harder to construct since resources aren't respawning quickly (if at all) and everyone else just sucks up everything before you have a chance to do anything.
I don't see this game getting any more "fun" from here so I'm just out the $99, I'm going back to Nightingale where I can actually progress without devoting weeks of my time before I can wear more than a burlap sack and have a roof over my head.

I adore this game, started it when it was offered on Epic and took advantage of Steam to create a second character. I have more than 200 hours in this game at this point and it's still got me very hooked. If you like games where you have to-do lists while running around a world where you can't die then this is 1000% the game for you :) The story lines become more engrossing as time goes on, the tasks are challenging but not too difficult, and you can log in and out at any point without losing progress. As a casual gamer who plays when there's free time in the day here and there, this fits my availability like a glove. Sure there's a premium store but it's only for cosmetics and there are TONS of clothing options already, it's not necessary to plunk down real money to play. As always YMMV but I've had a wonderful time running around Palia and hope they really take off so I can be playing this for years to come. Don't jump into rooms if you can't unlock the doors, I guess? Three hours in to this game I followed a path that dropped me into a room. The door has an adept lock on it, I haven't had any locked items available to level my skill at all and now because the drop is too high up I can't get out. I've wasted three hours on this game only to have to start from scratch since even using the unlock cheat to get out of the room doesn't work. The gameplay is painfully slow, it's easy to get turned around and takes forever to get around (at least for the first three hours of playing) unlike Skyrim where you have places that are easily walking distance and not constantly blocked all over the place. The frustration is real starting out this game, and I'm a huge Skyrim fan with thousands of hours put in over multiple platforms.

Once you figure out the controls it's pretty fun! The way the camera angle decides your movement direction is confusing, but the time spent on gathering and building isn't bad and you can avoid things that kill you easily enough if you're not into zombies :)
