Overall I like the game. It has good a atmosphere and story. But sometimes it just goes on and on with endless dialogue you can't skip. A button to skip dialogue is desperately needed! (you can skip dialogue with the space-bar, but only under certain circumstances)

I liked Mainlining at first, because I like the visual style and it also has a backstory (unlike most other "hacking" games).
I would forgive the bad UX of the command prompt and the incompleteness of the universe (e.g. websites only exist for the time of the missions in which they appear) and some other minor issues.

But the dealbreaker for me is how stupid the missions are. You have to identify perpetrators, collect evidence against them and find their whereabouts. Okay - that COULD be fun. But a huge part of the problem is that - when you get one of the ingredients wrong, you get no useful information on WHICH ingredient was wrong. If the location isn't correct, then why does the newspaper say that the suspect had been "wrongly accused" and "released"? This phrasing indicates that the location was right but the evidence to weak. Okay - so the feedback is misleading and (once you have figured THAT out!) you have to look at the clues and logically deduce the ingredients. Right? That would constitute a PUZZLE-game. That would make sense. That would be fun. But that's not how Mainlining rolls.

Oftentimes you have to submit a piece of evidence that would never hold up in court - even when you have collected much better evidence that isn't accepted. Also you often have evidence against multiple suspects. So you are already guessing between 6 to 30 combinations of these two ingredients. As to the whereabouts: you have access to everybodys addresses, but usually there is a vague hint to a different location in one of the files - and I mean VAGUE. And if there isn't such a hint, you are still always in doubt whether you have overlooked one. AND ON TOP OF THAT there are sometimes twists that require leaps in your reasoning that only make sense in hindsight. Mission 7 in particular was so harebrained that I FURIOUSLY uninstalled the game after reading that insult of a "solution" in a walkthrough.

I'm convinced that Rebelephant wasted to much time on side-gimmicks like the "maps" view, ran out of time in development and could only design a handful of missions, so they deliberately made the solutions illogical to artificially extend the playing-time. Illogical puzzle games aren't fun, they are frustrating. VERY FRUSTRATING. So although I really want to like this game - I can only advise you to STAY AWAY from it!

Steam should seriously remove this. It's nothing more than a demo - which would be okay for an early access game. But if a game hasn't been updated in over 4 years, it's not "early access" anymore. They are clearly not working on it anymore - in my opinion, taking $20 for THIS is FRAUD!

Walking-simulators usually give you awesome graphics. Here, everything is made of white boxes - but it still has stunning graphics, that come from the deliberate lighting.
The controls should be smoother. And the manual breathing is almost never needed, so you have no practice with it - you might not even know that it exists when you reach the PuzyGate level where you need to ace it. I rage quit multiple times there and only finally beat the level by turning the gamma up, so I could do the jumps in the dark.

I liked the first level and I would have written a positive review had I not played any further. The graphics are nice (although it requires way to powerful hardware for such a "primitive" game), I don't mind the repetitive music that much and in the first level, the difficulty of the jumps was balanced well against the slowly responding controlls (you are playing a heavy stone ball - it can't change its movement-state that fast).

At the start of the second level however, there is a sequence where you have to make several jumps (8?) in a row. Very tiny platforms, and most of the platforms are unstable (floating on water), so if you don't land precisely on the center, you're dead. If you stop, you don't have enough momentum to make it to the next platform. So here, you have to SPEED through 8 f...ing jumps in a row, each of which must be pixel-perfect. With THESE controlls, that is just f...ing impossible. This is the kind of BS that I want to punch a developer in the face for.

After about 40-50 attempts, I haven't made it past this sequence and instead of being relaxing, this game severely p..... me off. I have rage-quitted multiple times at that sequence and now I have had it. I have uninstalled it now and moved into my "trash" category (which means that I will never ever play it again in my life).

Do not waste your money on this! Buy InFlux instead!

I really want to like this game, but it is TOO DAMN HARD! In about 30 attempts, I could not even get half way through the first level. Most of the times (about 80%), I cannot even get off the first table without falling on the floor, which usually means game over. I have enough of this. I'll uninstall it and never install it again.

I have never played a game that touched me as much as this - I wouldn't even have believed that it would be possible for a game to touch you like this. I don't believe that "Game of the Year" is praise enough. In my opinion, "Gone Home" defines a new genre or it might even redefine computer-gaming itself.

It is the "Citizen Kane" of games and a MUST HAVE!

FX Football's main problem is that it doesn't feel like you had much influence on what happens on the field. The players' seemingly don't care much about your instructions (and they also don't behave too realistic). The training has no long term effect - training a strategy (for example pressing) only gives you the option to use that strategy for a longer time in the next match (50 seconds instead of 20 seconds). One week later, that effect is gone as if you had never trained it.
Overall, the game is not much fun - 20€ is far overpriced, it's worth 5€ at best. For 8€ you already get FM13, which is far, faaaar, FAAAAAR better than FX.
