TL;DR Recommended for players who like simulation survival games, that are literally all about just eating and drinking and exploring

Shelter starts you off as a mother lynx charged with taking care of your 4 newly born cubs, and takes you through their entire growth until they leave.

the controls, while simple and intuitive, end making the game drag on a tad as i didn't really feel challenged at all. in fact, had i not yolo'ed into the plains and lost two kittens to wolves, i probably could have subsisted in the beginning area with no real issues, as killing two rabbits at once was fairly easy.

The environments themselves are fun to look but aren't really enough to carry the gameplay

Information can feel rather lacking, i have a feeling the devs wanted to avoid any hud at all, but it would have been nice to get a menu or list of your cubs names during the game as i forgot them immediately after selecting them other than one i renamed bofa. also im pretty sure a mother in the wild would be able to tell if any of her cubs were starving.

Overall an good game if you like simulation survival game, but there wasn't really enough to do for me to keep coming back.

TL;DR fun open world game, get it on sale.

Pros
- Story is fun and keeps you interested most of the way
- the meat of the game, the shooting and driving feels great and responsive.
Cons
- there's a lot of filler content, doing the racket missions can get pretty painful later on in the game
- the driving segments of story missions are really hard due to tires popping and general bugs of the game
- Game can be quite buggy and is badly optimised

Overall i enjoyed my time with the game, sped ran through the story and didn't spend much time doing optional content, if you are looking for an open world game with a classic revenge plot. this pretty good, get it on sale though, this game is not worth 30.00$

Cons
- some hitboxes can be confusing at first making some hits feel cheap
- not all parryable attacks are immediately obvious
- following that trend some attacks are too close to pink and cause you to take free damage.

all in all, if you are a fan of repeatedly getting your ass kicked by someone until you learn how they fight and then getting that euphoric feeling of triumph over the enemy, this game is for you. on the other hand if you are easily frustrated, find yourself giving up on a game if it gets too hard. and don't like dying a lot, then this game is not for you

my score for this game is a strong 8/10

fantastic open world game, while great by itself it can easily be modded toadd even more content.
