We have been unable to play the game for days. When you launch the game you sit at a black screen for 5-10 minutes, then you get to the login screen it goes into a loop for up to 3 hours telling you that the servers are too busy to let you in. When you do get in, matchmaking is completely disabled, and there are many other issues (crashes, no mission rewards, unable to purchase stratagems). I would not recommend this game until these issues are fixed.

The game generally feels unfinished and is not worth the price.

AI workers usually fail to complete their assigned fieldwork fully, leaving you with a partially complete field and no way to assign a worker to the remaining work. Some contracts disappear immediately upon acceptance. Important icons do not have tool tips, which makes learning difficult for new players. Other important concepts are not explained well and the in-game documentation is inadequate. When performing contracts using borrowed equipment, the vehicle won't use onboard materials (e.g. fertilizer), it charges you directly. Mouse and keyboard controls feel second-class. The shop is intermittently not available remotely. There's character collision issues in the garage pit. Save game option is only available in certain menu categories (i.e. help, crop calendar, general settings). Video settings are not modifiable in-game. Countless other issues.

I picked Stardew Valley up for the first time a few weeks ago and haven't set it down since. I never expected a farming game to be so engaging, but there is something very satisfying about it.

TLDR: The game has huge potential but is so buggy and unfinished presently that I cannot recommend it at a price point of $15.

Bought this game to play with a friend who is on a Mac. Whenever she mined a block, the server would crash. Had her switch to Windows and it fixed the issue. It took us ~13 hours to clear through the final fire castle dungeon, which appears to be the end of content - there isn't documentation or clear progression from here, and we're not interested in roaming around mindlessly looking for mini bosses or other small nuggets of content.

I was very impressed with some QoL features like automatic pickaxe mode, straightforward upgrades and skills, and the tutorial. I also think the tier hammers are a great way to ensure linear progression, although we were able to essentially skip two of them by abusing mechanics and clearing dungeons early.

Bugs:
I received a dart trap from a dungeon, which I placed in my base to see if it actually fired. It does fire, which destroys my base and hits me, and is also indestructible (I can't get rid of it). A dev generously offered to modify my world if I sent over my save file, but we are done playing at this point.
It is very frustrating that walking through encounter areas (mini-dungeons?) that have already been cleared/defeated, sometimes restarts the encounter again and locks you in, and then does not reward you with loot for clearing.
Also in mini-dungeons, sometimes the encounter will end early, but the monsters will not de-spawn. One time a Horde of ghosty things killed us in such a mini-dungeon, and then flew all the way through the ground to our spawn and we had to fight them there without reward.
Sometimes the mini-dungeon timer never goes away.
When I killed the dark castle boss, it killed me at nearly the same time, so when I got back, it had respawned even though I had loot from it.
Shooting bow causes sword to be unusable sometimes.


Other notes:
Quick loot (shift-click) does not work in chests. A loot-all button would be nice.
We earned hundreds of dungeon crystals, but really you only need one per dungeon. Not sure why they are in every chest.
There's a ton of food but most of the recipes are insanely complicated and a waste of time.
The magic system seemed nice, but the custom spells were really unnecessary for us. What is the benefit of having a custom fireball split into 3 if it costs the same as three rapid fire fireballs that are easier to aim?
The dungeons seemed unbalanced. I found a magic weapon that sends you flying if you shoot it at your feet, so I used it to fling myself through most of the moving trap stuff and just waited in place a minute to heal if I ran low on health. The dark castle boss has an orb that is impossible to dodge as melee and basically one shots you.

All of the controls are Xbox360 mapped. Terrible start when I can't figure out what A, X, Y, and B are mapped to.
