For an alpha, this game is in a great state compared to so many MMOs before. This is the closest thing to what Vanguard was working towards. I cannot wait to see all of the systems and the world fleshed out at release. I hope they can take their time to do it right.

This has the potential to be an awesome cyberpunk FPS akin to DOOM and while it looks amazing there are some things needed before the game releases.

1. Motion Blur needs to be disabled, just remove it entirely, for everyone's sanity.
2. Mouse sensitivity in game is 0 and its still way too fast (this seems to be an Unreal 5 issue, no idea why every UE5 game has insane levels of mouse sensitivity.
3. The voice lines and cut scenes are very disjointed.
4. Lots of story was talked about but besides the AI(?) being upset at stupid Corpo, i have no idea why I exist or what my purpose is.
5. During part of the demo, the voice over makes it sound like this is a roguelike where you have multiple attempts but that doesn't seem to be the case when you "die" as part of the cut scene but then just poof you're somewhere else?
6. Hopefully the full release has more variety to enemy types

Shooting and movement felt great (minus the motion blur) and we got a taste of the weapon variety, which are basically DOOM weapons (not a bad thing).

Hopefully most of my concerns are addressed or non-issues in the full release.

Surprisingly, we have another great FPS added to the scene!

Movement during the tutorial is frustrating but the actual MP has better movement. You can get even more movement from various cards.

The game is well optimized and smooth. I haven't experienced any hit detection issues what so ever.

The best part is that we have standard FPS modes like TDM if you aren't a fan of SnD.

Typical Bethesda RPG focused on conversations and character development. Space combat, planet exploration, ship & outpost building are icing on the cake.

Putting typical launch day server woes aside, this game is great. The pacing is well done, by the time i was getting bored of it being easy they threw in the difficult fights and then the map really started to open up and reward exploring the nooks and crannies.

I can honestly (and surprisingly) say it is a completely different battle royal game from what we have seen. The devs have a lot of work to get it at the level of polish seen in other games in the genre though.

This game is basically Saints Row in a battle royal map.

Why can I not recommend this game while everyone else gives it rave reviews?
  • No matter what game mode you play, they all turn into who can spawn camp first.
  • The tank class feels extremely out of place in this game.
  • The stealth sword/smg class is probably the most played since you are invisible 80% of the time you are sprinting.
  • You can snipe the other team's spawn from your spawn (most maps)
  • Character models look like they are from 2000 while every other visual asset looks up-to-date (first person hands/gun as well as the levels themselves look great)

This game is basically played 1 of 2 ways. Sit in or near your spawn and snipe the other team's spawn OR run and gun like a bat out of hell trying to flank the snipers so your team can move to spawn camp the other team. Oh and possibly touch the objective once in a while.

I am glad I only payed $7 for this title but other F2P games like Dirty Bomb have far more depth.

1.5 NEXT Review Update
As my only complaints were about base building from the previous patches I can happily say it is now what we expected. Well done Hello Games. Cannot wait to see what you keep adding to this amazing game.

Love the latest base building addition but I still question their design decisions. Why can we only have 1 home base? Why is there a building limit? Why can we not put the home base anywhere we want on a planet?

Overall its a fun game to just explore and see if you can find a visually interesting planet. Not what we expected but its fun for what it is.
