This game has some of the best boss fights around. The flow of combat and exploration is perfectly executed. The characters are charming, and the length was satisfying.

I really didn't expect this to become one of my favorite games, but it did. Highly recommended.

The only thing I'm not a fan of is the boss rush stuff, which was both optional and a free update. Not going to cry over that.

The story is incomplete and will probably never be finished but it's such a wild ride that it's worth it anyway.

I picked this up on a whim back before Steam even existed, and it quickly became one of my favorite rpgs of all time.

While I initially thought the graphics were ugly (even for the time), and the combat was a simple take on what FF7 had done, the characters, story, and humor quickly won me over.

I'm not sure how well it still holds up today, but I never stopped recommending it, and always lamented that it didn't have a sequel.

Put simply, Metal Gear Rising is one of the best character action games I have ever played. The mechanics are engaging and the action set-pieces are too ridiculous to not be entertaining. While the story isn't amazing, it's got just enough character to be memorable.

Though one of the most enjoyable aspects of the game might actually be its music and the way it dynamically changes during boss fights depending on what "phase" of the fight you are on. This creates extremely exciting moments where you perhaps feel more badass than you actually are. When mixed with the crazy scenarios, it makes the game even more satisfying.

If you like similar games (Devil May Cry, Bayonetta) and have the patience to learn the controls, or just want to know what all the memes are about, this is a game you need to play.
