I didn't know that all I needed in my life is a climbing game. With a new mountain to climb every day. Co-op is funny, and solo is tense. What else can I say about this game, they really just made Peak.

Great games, finishing up all the end content in KH1 at the time of writing the review, but played the previous collection available on ps4. All of the games are for the most part preserved very well, but the biggest drawback is the AI upscaled textures. It's really distracting at times and ruins a lot of the look of characters. Upscaled text looks terrible, I could list on many specific examples but going into the 101 Dalmations rooms and seeing pawprints be completely dismorphed by AI really takes away a lot of the charm that these games bring. I would highly recommend seeking out a mod to downgrade the textures back to their original versions. I am really dissapointed in this decision, especially considering how unnecessary it was. The games already looked great in their PS4 forms, and it baffles me that they took the time to go out of their way to do this to the games. Touching up the original textures by hand would obviously be time consuming but it was completely unneeded.

Anyways I love these games, and I highly recommend playing through the entire series as its just a super positive cute series with some wild stuff happening in the grand plot.

Would have gladly paid for this game, the in-game camera is such a novel mechanic, and the final videos they produce are very charming, a lot of room for funny moments while also being pretty chaotic and terrifying at times.

In terms of faithfully recreating and building off of the existing game, the pixel remaster does a fine job of bringing that classic final fantasy 2 experience to modern gamers. Unfortunately the classic final fantasy 2 experience is agonizing and miserable. The first game in the series to have a followable story, does a surprisingly decent job of building a world and characters in it, but the gameplay has aged horribly. I took a three month break from playing this game right at the final dungeon because I found it so frustrating. After spending a few decent hours trying to engage in the game's combat system I found that after the 10th random encounter I would just auto battle, and then continued to do that for the entire game. By the end I had some weak magic spells but still managed to mostly get by until the final dungeon where I had a 30% chance to wipe on a single enemy turn, but then I killed the final boss in two hits so I don't know where I stand on this game. Frustrating experience that I do not intend to seek out again.

this game is the best game out of all the games

i always hated turn based rpgs, and this was the first rpg that I ever got into and it sucked me in. visually this game is bursting with unique style, every menu grabs your attention and combat feels clear and satisfying. The soundtrack also does a fantastic job of setting the games moods, from the normal chill days to the thrilling boss battles, every song is worth listening to on its own and I have done so since I first played this game back in 2019. the story is one that I found very engaging, and I love nearly every character this game offers, although I do think that some characters are introduced too late into the story and not given enough chance to breathe and develop. A problem which is alleviated by the games sequel but still a valid complaint for the first game. Absolute banger of a game and worth the price.
