After so many years I forgot about this game, seems the developer did too. Once I realized I bought the game, and not just the demo, I was sad I couldn't refund it so I felt it at least deserved a negative review. There are so many fans of Mother/EarthBound who have genuine heartfelt passion for games like them, shame there's very little "Heart" bound to this project. If anything I'm disappointed, but for things that don't disappoint me, may I instead suggest some games that give your time some worth:

Jimmy and the Pulsating Mass (surprise favorite)
Undertale (timeless choice)
Lisa: The Painful (if you can find the fun in the pain)
and
Cassette Beasts (not related but what a fun time!)

Alright, didn't think I'd make this, but here I go:

After coming back to Among Us upon hearing there was a new map update, I like others, returned back to Among Us for the new content. Unfortunately, my experience has been a bit different than most and comes down to the decision of Innersloth to age gate Free Chat and creating a Display Name. The friends I play with did not have the same barrier and I could not find any info online of my situation and everyone wrote it off as shady and scam-like, but after researching and scouring discords and sending emails, I've reached confirmation that Innersloth will require you to submit your credit card or SSN to be able to remove these restrictions, a truly needless and poorly implemented process that will do more harm than good.

Like I said before those I played with didn't catch that, but by chance you do as I and others have then you will have no other recourse but to submit your personal information. I've tried many work-arounds in clearing cahce/data, re-installing, editing text files, restoring PC to an earlier date, etc. and none of that has been able to fix this. In settings the option remains grayed out and unchangeable to quick chat and until Innersloth fixes this then I really can't recommend such a practice for something as simple as Among Us.

I am having issues with playing Among Us after not playing for months. There have been issues setting up my account information and signing in even though I've gone through many steps to remedy this issue. I've uninstalled and re-installed, cleared out any lingering date and files, and even tried other methods looking through files to fix this. I cannot change the data in settings to allow Free-Text Chat, nor resume using my own name on the game.

When trying to submit my email, a shady email response requesting the last 4 of SSN along with my address or a Credit Card entry form. I am wary of playing this game any longer given the circumstances and I am actively seeking solutions. Please advise on this matter, as no results indicate that this is normal or common.

To be able to access the free chat and name change option, you would need to enter your email address for you to be able to grant a guardian permission to yourself. You will receive an email with a link that will take you to the Kids Web Services site where you can use to grant permission in using the free chat and custom display name features.

That is correct. That is a part of verification process to grant permissions in the app.
