Yes, that can be a pitfall. Although it does help to have at least one programming language under your belt (I know Gamemaker has some form of scripting, so I'm guessing you have some basic programming experience). C# isn't too difficult to learn, plus there are a plethora of tutorials online. (Yes, I know JS is also there, but its much more unnecessarily complicated IMO)
