Tl;dr = If you love Stalker, or want more ADACA this is a no brainer. If you enjoy FPS games that don't guide you by the hand, this is a great pick. If you want a game that explores the idea of loneliness and self-preservation, this game offers it in spades. This is not a crotch kicking simulator and it is not terribly difficult, but it will chew you up and spit you back out if you go into it thinking it is going to be a casual experience.

You know those horror games where the scares have that build up of tension, where it makes you feel like every corner could be your next jump? Yeah this game doesn't do a lick of that, and still manages to scare and excite me more than most anything has in years.

If you have played S.T.A.L.K.E.R. or Anomaly, then you will be very familiar with the in's and out's of this game almost right off the bat, as many mechanics are taken from that franchise. And the whole over-arching idea of combining action, horror, and adventure into one intriguing and mind boggling package is all here.

If you are unfamiliar with Stalker, or are coming off the heels of ADACA and wanting more of what that game offered, then I will try to sum up what it feels like to play this game.
After creating a character and picking what (if any) gear you want to bring, the game thrusts you into the world after a very short introduction. You get like maybe 5 minutes in the echo chamber before someone tells you to go do stuff for them. After that, the world is almost completely open to you minus some unlockable shortcuts here and there. The world is also going to give you absolutely nothing for free, if you need something you will have to go out and look for it yourself the hard way. You are not given any quest markers, you don't even get a UI or a heads up display unless you find a wearable device that does so for you. There are some survival lite mechanics, you do have to eat but you will not starve to death. It is in fact used for the healing system, if you are hungry, you won't be able to heal without juicing up with a ton of drugs or heal pastes. Weapons and armor do not have condition ratings so do not worry about having to constantly repair things. Carry weight is not static and it is actually pretty hard to make yourself over encumbered unless you really try. Going over your limit just begins to gradually slow your movement and handling until you are a really easy target for rival faction members or monsters, and speaking of factions and monsters there is an absolute treasure trove of things to shoot at. You can also side with and join these factions, as well as gain access to their unique gear and quests. Or even become their enemy number one and wipe them out of every area you find them in.

Game mechanics aside, the world while having a more cartoony look feels so good to move around in. There are so many spots to explore, and the map is absolutely massive as long as you give it some slack for having loading screens between each major area. I think this actually helps with keeping dynamic events centered closer to the player so they can experience more. The day time feels so interesting to walk around in, and the night time envelops the player in almost complete darkness and also brings out different kinds of enemies and encounters for you the player to stumble upon. While the world is a neat place to explore, it is also extremely dangerous. The waters are almost completely filled with radiation or mutated fish. Many paths are treacherous and filled with all sorts of anomalous stuff that will probably rip your skeleton out of your skin if you are not careful. And almost every other person you come by will shoot first before deciding if you are friendly or not, so keep your gun up often and your health and hunger kept in the green.

Last things I wanna touch on super quick is the weapons, armor, and useable items. As well as the music. Firstly, there is a rich plethora of armor and apparel in the game ranging from very beneficial to even somewhat silly if you prefer it. This also goes for the items in-game that your character can use in their adventures. You can use binoculars to scan areas, nightvision to become a predator of the night, you can get detectors and go on hunts for artifacts. You can even use sledgehammers, shovels, and crowbars to do various things to the game world. Objects might be hidden under the dirt, maybe you need to get past a weakened wall with that hammer, or maybe you have run out of lockpicks and need a crowbar to pry open a simple door. There is a lot of just general "things" you can use here, and it is a lot of fun. As for weapons there is a really good selection and every weapon has different variants of itself with different attachments that come with it. Some can be very punchy and satisfying, and some can be like pea shooters that you cannot wait to get rid of. There is also melee weapons and a semi-decent stealth system that works a little better than shadow of chernobyl did. Still not fantastic, and I get flashbacks to the alarm in agroprom often.

And quickly, the music. It is just good. Inspired from Stalker again, with it's moody all enveloping atmosphere that offers up dread with slight hints of beauty and curiousity. It is a fun soundtrack and it compliments the game well. But I recommend also listening to the actual Stalker soundtrack sometimes, it fits so well.

For an early access game, this scratches an itch. I have ran into a few areas that feel a tad unfinished or have obvious expansions coming up. But for the most part my immersion and suspense of disbelief have remained in-tact, and I feel like this is a world that lives and breathes and interacts with the player naturally and it feels so good to just play and experience.

Doom Eternal Soy < Chad Doom 2016 enjoyer

In all honesty this game did literally everything right to bring the DOOM franchise into the modern era, and with Eternal and Dark Ages they keep taking several steps back. I much prefer this gameplay and level layout over using a stiff flying dragon to drop into the exact same arena over and over. Or being forced to play 15 - 20 minute mech sections that require you to repeat the exact same combo over and over.

Also, Mick Gordon. Need I say more!?

Plays more like Rainbow Six 3: Raven Shield/Vegas than it does SWAT/RoN. It lacks a planning feature and you cannot kit out your AI team mates.
Animations are very janky at times, and some missions you will be body blocked severely by friendly AI or surrendering enemies. And graphically this game has major artifacts.
Besides that, honestly I have had a lot of fun with this game. Both the PVP and Co-op/Solo has been pretty enjoyable, but does not achieve the same things that RoN currently does. The enemies are more aggressive, and will more often dupe you, take cover and fire upon you, will throw grenades at you and set traps dynamically. They will also rush you in a few cases, even hip firing in your direction or suppressing door ways you wish to enter through. They are very dangerous, but thankfully the weapons feel great and connect well when firing back on suspects. There is a decent variety of Assault rifles and SMG's, a couple precision rifles, 2 shotguns(?) and about 7 or so pistols including a taser.

The K9 update, while neat and I love dogs, does not perform well. They are useful in a small amount of circumstances and you cannot tell the animal to hold back or stay. So you will be hearing it's SFX constantly in a mission if you bring it with you. It becomes more of a issue than anything.

There are a ton of missions too, and they all carry over to the PVP game modes as well. Some 21 - 22 levels to complete. The movement system is nice, being able to rappel up walls like Siege, or controlling your pace manually through a slider. All in all, I suggest you do your research if you are looking to get into a swat game but don't know where to start. This game is faster paced than Ready or Not, the issues with team AI are present in both games. It can be a real good time but level your expectations, and don't worry about the 1 - 2 hour play time negative reviews if what you are looking for is a more co-op or singleplayer experience. Beware of Denuvo AntiCheat, which if attempting to access multiplayer will be asked to be installed and enabled on your system. That does dock the game some major points.

If you are looking for a good old boomer shooter experience, this is NOT it.

Contrary to what many others say, this game focuses more on exploration and experimenting with items than it does actual combat. I actually appreciate what it tries to do, sometimes.
Trust me when I say, I have read every scroll and I make sure to mark points in my map. I still have to spend at least 1 hour per level trying to just figure out where the objectives actually are or how to get to them. It becomes extremely tedious, and slow and monotonous. Due to it's engine limitations, many areas look too similar and quest items will simply blend into the environment even when they glow and sparkle saying "PICK ME UP NOW".
I recommend keeping a guide handy when playing through 'Crystal Heart', the first episode of the campaign. As without one, I assure you the first level will begin to frustrate you and that frustration will not end for several hours of gameplay.
But when you actually do get past the objective based issues, the combat is super fluid, enemy design is very balanced in my opinion. The weapons are beautiful as well as the sounds they emit. Everything just has such a huge amount of care and love taken into it art style wise. And the music is awesome, just heavy riffing with some dark ambient tracks to fill the time between fights. I recommend doing research on this game, and take all the positive reviews with a bit of salt. Because they are not telling you the whole story.

TL;DR = Tedious objectives, Tons of reading and treasure hunting with nothing to do in-between, confusing level design. But great combat, great art style, great music, and I now have an orc lady obsession that I can't keep down. Purchase with care.

This game feels more like a social experiment than a MilSim title.
Don't get me wrong I have had a ton of fun with the time I spent with this game but not for the reasons I originally put money down for. I hope that ArmA 4 will have a huge focus on Co-op and Singleplayer people, as the issues that have plagued several PvP servers in the past returns here in Reforger and these are things that are not going to be easily remedied due to the nature of the game and it's engine.
Killing a single enemy can require a mag dump because the game constantly shows you hitting shots that deal zero damage because it didn't hit them on their end of the network. Terrain pop-in can be very bad at times, even with my View dist. set very high and my objects detail maxed out, the terrain at a distance can come off extremely low quality.
Another major thing, is the grass LOD. At 50 - 75 Meters at max settings the grass completely stops rendering in-game. Meaning that a patch of tall grass will NOT conceal you, nor will your camo actually have much of an impact because what you lay down in is not what the enemy see's. They can clearly identify in a moments notice someone laying in a wheat field because the wheat field does not appear on their screen only yours.
This is more of a personal gripe but the new workshop system means server owners can update and change files on their server on the fly and people will be able to immediately download them and hop in. This is incredible, except for one problem. Server owners are just like ANY OTHER ARMA PLAYER. They are constantly changing mods, removing mods, adding new ones, and your favorite server will constantly be restarting and needing file updates. This is just another time consuming task added onto any players, ontop of it constantly eating at your SSD/HDD because the game doesn't do a great job at showing you statistics on your mods like file sizes, where they are going, and it has a hard time deleting temp download files meaning your drive is going to fill up with tons of gb worth of useless files not being used at all.

I could go on, this arma title is just rough and I hope and pray Arma 4 is more in line with what we loved about Arma 3. Reforger is a social experiment like I said, get a bunch of people from several generations and console families together and put them in a dynamic sandbox that is run by the players. It is fun to be put in that environment but another issue is the playerbase not playing the actual game. It only takes a handful of decent arma players on one team to dominant a map. These players need smaller game modes, and better tutorials. Maybe some new player friendly official servers? Gotta be something ya'll can do for them.

My favorite game of all time sitting right beside the Half Life series.
It was there for me during my best days, and it was absolutely there for me during my worst.
The world is utterly believable, the story sucks you in, and the combat is just so darn addicting.
And that soundtrack....OH THE SOUNDTRACK. It's bloody incredible.
The colors and visuals this game provides is like a drug, literal eye candy if your PC can handle it maxed out in the graphics section.
Sure does leave a bitter sweet taste with so much more to be desired knowing that Phantom Liberty will be our final update for the game.
I can't imagine a sequel could do this game justice, but I am sure it will launch in a better state than this game did! Thank you CDPR for sticking with this legendary game, not to get all mushy, but it saved my life when I was emotionally at my worst.

I've spent some time in the demo prior to the public release build, and enjoyed it to a moderate amount. Upon entering this new purchasable build I realized there are some changes, though small, make a considerable difference. So there IS a difference between this build and the demo build. Not by much though.

HumanitZ is a fun and decent start to what I see as a fruitful endevour for the developers, it has all the building blocks to be a fun survival game for players like me who enjoy singleplayer and co-op experiences. Not to detract from PvP, as it could have a place here, but the PvE has been a lot of fun and I hope that remains a priority until it is refined.
This game is no Project Zomboid 2 or even a direct competitor to it. While Zomboid does what it can to maintain realism and player freedom, this game sticks to the basics. Lots of loot, huge hordes and bandit camps, and building bases to survive the elements. There is a lot to be expanded upon here but I don't see this as being PZ or anything like it really. More like DayZ, The Forest, or even those Last Stand flash games from back in the day.
While the game recommends 4 players per server, I have seen upwards of 14 players and my experience there was great. After joining an online match I spent about 3 and a half hours looting up and exploring, then I figured out, THIS IS IMPORTANT FOR MP, there is a skill that allows you to see all players on the map at any time. Once I unlocked that, I could track down players and have them help me, rewarding them loot like shotguns and cowboy hats along the way. I saw many of my friends die and disconnect out of frustration, and unfortunately that is because this game has NO VOIP or Text Chat at ALL. No Prox or Global chat whatsoever. You are dumbed down to using in-game emotes to communicate, and me pointing at things could only explain so much to new players.

Anyways, there is some things I would like to see, such as some form of communication besides emoting, an expansion on the current map, more options to tweak and customize your player experience (like setting more values for zombies, bandits, and loot), a metagame like more tasks to complete on the world map, and lastly, more tweaks on inventory management and looting. Right now, there are hoops you have to jump through in order to grab and maintain loot. There is no way to loot nearby objects in the viscinity and you must directly interact with everything, which isn't as intuitive in an isometric video game. There are some other odd things too, like you have to take off your t-shirt in order to put on a winter coat, which doesn't make much sense. I'm sure I have more but I genuinely enjoy this game and see a bright future for it! Let him cook!

40 Hours as of this review on this account. Probably have hundreds of hours in this game, it's amazing co-op campaign, and it's awesome (albeit limited) editor.

If you are a fan of older ArmA titles, and open-ended simulation that allows you to complete tasks or form your own in any which way you see fit.

Playing the campaign, and you see an enemy patrol or vehicle just off doing its own thing separate from the main mission? Engage them, have some fun. You probably just saved yourself some trouble if they decided to come back like 20 minutes later. It's those little moments on top of an already ball crushing campaign that may have you replaying missions just for the sake of that perfect run.

I'll be completely honest, this game reminds me of the time I spent with R6 3 Raven Shield. It has a huge emphasis on personal squad management rather than attempting to simulate a full scale war like ArmA is capable of, and while this game CAN and WILL simulate a full war, the campaign is so clean. I lose myself in it, commanding my units and trying to keep everyone healthy and happy, forces me to put things in perspective. In those moments when guys are shooting at you, explosions are happening, everyone screaming and hollering, all that matters is my men and myself staying ALIVE.

Incredible game that a lot of military enjoyers should give a shot. A little jank, but once you got the game down from a gameplay perspective, you might just get hooked. Get some friends together and run the entire campaign and see what happens!
