I have played a lot of this game, modless. This is a decent review for someone who doesn't maybe play this type of game. If you're a mudrunner vet, you'll probably love it, know what I'm saying, and can probably skip this.

Here is what I'll say. 40 CAD is steep for this game. Is it good? ABSOLUTELY. It's so fun. There are a few imba trucks but finding the best random trucks for random jobs is actually really fun. Once you get the Tayga in Russia and the better Tayga in Maine... it's EZPZ, almost to a fault. But you can get yourself into trouble, and the games amplifying difficulty makes it not toooooo broken. Unlocks are shared throughout the game, so playing with friends doesn't hinder your own progress, but it also isn't a waste of time playing with others. Money and unlocked upgrades in someone elses server will transfer to your save.

What about the gameplay? It's good! Highway trucks are kinda weird? Like, after getting my first "decent" offroad, I literally never touched a highway truck again, period. The entire category is an enigma to me. I keep reading the descriptions waiting for one of the trucks to have a super cool feature nothing else does that makes them better, but as a category it's just... pointless. Same can be said about the scouts. While they are great, and fun, literally all of them become invalidated by one single mini truck that is small enough to have an autonomous winch, but also carry an modest fuel tank on it's back. It's literally one of the best scouts and there is very few things that can compare to it's versatility. The variety of trucks is good, graphics are decent. Like not AAA, but absolutely fine. Customizations are pretty good aswell. Would be cool to be able to make your own stickers and stuff in game, but that's all cosmetics, and let's be real, some sixteen year old would put slurs on it and troll public lobbies... Gameplay is straightforward, physics are pretty okay, other than the occasional weird interactions. Signs will get stuck in your wheels and suddenly destroy your truck, or you'll winch a small tree and it'll jettison into outer space. Stuff like that, all minor, nothing "gamebreaking". Occasionally you'll find the game has a "way" of doing things, but it also doesn't prevent you from just avoiding that task, but you take damage otherwise. If you find damage to be very high, slow down, it legit will solve all damage problems. Graphical bugs that are annoying happen everyone once in a while from switching camera views too often. There is this annoying online bug that makes your friends invisible, but not their trailers. It's very weird to watch as a lot of the gameplay is client side, so you, the host, could be in the same spot your friend is in, take no damage, while on their screen they are being wrecked by you. There is no real solution other than to restart the game, for any of the above issues. Server creation is quick enough that it's pretty okay. I can start, create a server, get a friend in, and notice the issue, restart, and fix it before GTA online would load. So again not gamebreaking just lacking a biiiit of polish.

Let's talk about the price. I think 40CAD for this game is ridic. Did the developers work hard for this game? Absolutely, and they are great devs who put out a solid product. But if you're the type of gamer who is only gonna play the content that came with the game... it's a rip off. 40 bucks for like three maps. Are they full maps, that are full of fun and great times? Absolutely. Again, I spent a lot of time in this game and have nothing but praises for it. But the second you look at more DLC, it gets silly, fast. Getting the season passes plus the game is like, nearly 100 CAD. If you are the type of person that could get hooked on a game, that might be worth it. But at 25 CAD it's a much better deal, and worth the "will i like it risk" of a new game and perhaps genre.

I haven't gotten the season passes, and having bought the game at (i think?) full price, I will say I found it "worth". But putting 60CAD out for more DLC and maps is just silly, even more so when someone else can host it and you can enjoy it.

I've had a blast at around 180 hours, and I plan to put quite a more into it, and I do plan on getting the DLCs are they come on sale. This game is absolutely one of the best games I picked up during COVID for being able to hang out with friends while also not doing anything important enough to not be able to hang out and catch up and chat. It's great because there is forced conversations (road conditions, fuel call outs, needing help cause you flipped, etc.) Great social game with no "intensity".

So long and short, very worth, but I would wait for steam sales, specifically if you enjoy this type of game, because 100CAD on this is a lot.
