The third part of the Muv-Luv trilogy, Muv-Luv Alternative is sitting on the #1 spot on VNDB for a reason. The reason is amazing and you should if possible go into it as blind as possible.

I would like to note a few things you need to know that aren’t spoilers but will prevent you from ruining your experience.

The first is you must play Extra first. While the game allows you to skip it for some reason with this release you will be losing all the characterization and you won’t enjoy the other two parts nearly as well.

The second is you should at the very least play Kagami Sumika’s route for the full enjoyment or for the way that the Japanese version did it and is really a good idea is to also play through Mitsurugi Meiya’s route. You could technically get away with just playing Meiya’s route and having an okay experience.

The order that I would however suggest to do is Mitsurugi Meiya > Kagami Sumika > Any other side characters you care about (Tamase Miki has a good route imo) > Move onto unlimited.

One last thing is that the game will be getting a 18+ patch but they haven’t released it at the time of this review. I will attempt to remember to update the review if they add the translation patch for how to get the patch. Hopefully they won’t charge people who didn’t back the game on kickstarter for it like myself.

Anyways I hope you enjoy the game, I know I did. :)

On a side note… The translation was cleaned up since the fan translation a lot so hopefully people will enjoy the Extra part of the game a lot more than previously :)
