I've just now realised I somehow never left a review for this game despite having 600 hours on it.

I've played the ♥♥♥♥ out of this game, not just on pc but on playstation as well. While it's caused me great suffering on many occasions I've got to say that it's still one of my favourites if not the top. The combat is fast and responsive with an extremely wide profile of weapons to choose from so you can pick what you like. Personally I'm a bit fan of the spiked mace. The infusion system is also really interesting, allowing different scalings. Bows have basically been left behind unfortunately, having done a bow only build I suffered greatly, they cannot be buffed or infused, you have to spend half your souls buying the ammunition and even then they do about half the damage of any other weapon while having a longer attack time, yes you can attack from a range, but enjoy the damage fall off and not being able to do anything while the enemies close the distance.

This game is the embodiment of "firm but fair" in my opinion, if you get killed in this game it's nearly always your fault, for getting too greedy, rushing too fast, mistiming your rolls. It's frustrating but you're basically never cheated out of a life. The only exception to this is command grabbing enemies, they invalidate shields and make it basically pointless to use them instead of just rolling. Some examples of this would be mimics, pontiff's beast and the gru's in the farron swamp (the latter being my personal nemesis)

Each boss has a varied moveset with only a few bosses being gimmicks, my favourite bosses are probably the twin princes, champion gundyr and the dancer as they're difficult fights without too many tricks, the twin princes are at a stage in the game where you can really start to see your final build coming together and they challenge you to make the most of it or make a visit to rosaria to respec. The dancer is a fun bossfight with a cool moveset, she's also (iirc) the only boss whose attacks don't synchronise with the rythm of the song but instead with the violins, it makes you rethink the way you fight her and reevaluate how you've been rolling as a lot of the time people will subconsciously do it to the music. Champion gundyr is just fun to whip on to be honest, it's really satisfying to hit all the parries without taking damage and seeing those big riposte numbers go up, it's a shame the hornet ring is right after the fight.

In terms of the bosses I hate, Aldrich, and Wolnir are really the only ones that come to mind. While I struggle a lot with crystal sage that's a skill issue. Aldrich is a pain in the ass because of the arrow rain primarily, it basically turns the boss into a bullet hell and leaves ranged attacking builds to suffer because of the high charge up time on spells, melee builds don't suffer quite as much but if you're playing a magic or miracles build you're probably going to get steamrolled due to the long cast times. Wolnir is just a massive ♥♥♥♥♥ to deal with because of his fog, there have been several times (on challenge builds) where the damage i've done wasn't enough to kill his bracers straight away, and he's pushed me up against the back wall and dropped fog on me, I wasn't able to run away from the fog because the wall was there, and I wasn't able to go towards him because there's fog behind him, this fog does such ludicrous amounts of damage that you will almost immediately die on any build, that's the only reason I hate this boss.

The soundtrack in this game is also legendary, if you want to save your eardrums some damage I'd reccomend turning the volume of your pc down before launching it for the first time so the main title theme doesn't blow out your eardrums.

All in all it's a really fun experience, just don't use bows ever at all they suck ass.

Fantastic game with a lot of options, the artifacts allow you to basically make your own version of the game within itself, I like to use command, swarms and sacrifice to just steamroll, but there are SO many combinations that would let you craft your own experience. I enjoy it best with friends.

Upadte at 147 hours and true 100% completion, just before the DLC comes out. I would highly reccomend playing swarms, sacrifice, spite, and chaos; very fun VERY scary. The game continues to impress me with its replayability, and, having just done 4.4 quadrillion damage over the course of a command run on mercenary while unlockable hunting, I must say it truly makes you feel like a god sometimes. This does come with the caveat of (at least in my case) making mercenary 99.9% of your damage done of all time, but hey, Big number go brr

Probably one of the best and most entertaining games I've ever played. There are a few features that Infuriate me but the amount of entertainment I've gotten out of this game with my friends makes it SO worth the pain

Good game with great replayability, Best enjoyed with mods, specifically graphics mods, which is why I have no achievments lol. Do yourself a favour and cop.

I would say that this is the best game I have ever played in my life. And I've played a lot of games. Here's why.
-The soundtrack is exceptional and fits the mood of the game perfectly.
-The combat is intelligent and layered as well as encouraging and rewarding creative game play and tactics, while sometimes it can be tough and extremely difficult to beat often all it takes is rethinking your approach to get the victory.
-The way the skills and stat points are handled are also amazing allowing an incredible amount of character creation and customisation.
-The voice acting is incredible and each character you encounter feels unique and interesting, and while not every character has one most have a quest you can do.
-The story is fantastic and the progression from area felt natural and I was never left feeling like I had been forced to progress but more that the game had naturally drawn me towards story based things while on other quests.

These are just some of the things I can say about this game but so many more amazing things will come your way if you give the game a chance and experience it yourself. Please do yourself a favour and buy it.
