So having played a handful of different zombie survival games, I have to say that Project Zomboid is one of the most interesting and enjoyable experiences I've had in a long time.

The dev team is very consistent with pushing information to players, and keeping the game in a healthy state. As of the time of this post, the beta branch (which has a major overhaul of the systems of the game in testing) is amazing to play and feels fluid.

Understand that is game is not about hitting an endgame and having a mega-fortress or elite gear to one-shot all Zed. Its all about how long can you make it in the world before you finally fail to survive. Hordes are a thing; I've died numerous times to poor choices or just not paying attention and getting bit. You can easily get 50-100 zombies chasing you, and any idea of beating that is impossible without the right tools, which leads me to the next part of my review: Crafting

There are tons of neat things you can craft and do with said crafts. Want to make a noise device to distract the horde thats gathered around a building? You can. You want a firebomb that explodes on a timer. Deal. Want a baseball bat with nails. Yep. And maintenance is a large part as well. No telling how many times I've been fighting off 5-6 zombies and my bat break and I've got to run in fear of my life. And because I was smashing faces and making noise, now there are more zombies coming. The game shows no mercy and its GREAT.

Finally, there is a skill system. The more you do, the more skill you get. Certain crafts and abilities are locked behind being high enough skill. Thankfully, there are ways to gain xp faster, in the form of reading books for multipliers and if you're alive in the beginning of a new world, T.V. shows that give free xp. You have traits that you pick during character creation that either positively or negatively affect you depending.

Overall, I would highly recommend this game to anyone reading. The current game is really good, and the upcoming branch is fantastic. Mod support is great. You will not regret the purchase. The only thing you might struggle with at first will be the view/camera but this becomes second nature after a few hours.
