Everybody's saying "Just play it, don't read reviews" but that doesn't really help anybody, does it?
Outer Wilds is a space exploration adventure/puzzle game with segments of physics-based platforming and 6DOF 0-gravity movement. There's no combat involved, making it akin to a game like Myst in space.

If that sounds like it would be to your liking, you should love this.

The only real issues are technical. Frequently the controller refuses to work properly, often getting confused whether you're using a keyboard or gamepad, and there's some sort of memory leak that causes FPS drops even on a fairly beefy computer. This shouldn't be a gamebreaker, but YMMV.

Do you like Superhot, but wish it were more of a roguelike? If so, this is for you. If you want more of the first game, get ready to not only get none of that, but also be mocked for it.

It's fine. A decently mindless dungeon crawler, made somewhat annoying due to a clunky interface and pathfinding. The ending comes out of nowhere and the story is not all that special, but there's a lot of post-game content and NG+ features if you're into that srot of thing.

A soft yes, but it really is borderline. As a port, it's perfectly acceptable, but it really is JUST a translated port of the Sufami version. None of the additional content or story or gameplay tweaks of the 3D or PSP versions. The interface is clunky, requiring you to back out of the game just to check the bestiary. I don't think the other games will be much better. It's only a soft yes because it is still FFIV. it's my favorite game in the series, but holy crap is it close.

I... really started to loathe this game near the end. As a lifelong fan of the original NES version (It's my third favorite in the series) I felt like this would be a great opportunity to capture the simplistic beauty of the classic, but while it does look gorgeous, it lacks a lot of tiny bits of polish that make the game feel like a rushed cash-in. Maps are not centered correctly, enemy status effects are not displayed, and certain QOL improvements like the constantly available minimap make exploration virtually pointless.

I understand and appreciate updating a game like this for a new generation, but the Pixel Remaster offers none of the additional content of the GBA or PSP editions, and the somewhat arbitrary choice of what gameplay mechanics to improve and which to keep intact are baffling to say the least. Enemies do not display their currently inflicted status, but the player can use equipment spells from their inventory. The bonus dungeons and god-tier equipment are removed, but Chaos's HP still gets a buff from 2000 to 20,000. For every positive addition that makes the game much more accessible, something else was added or left out to make it even more annoying.

I honestly don't know what they were trying to accomplish with the difficulty curve in this version of the game, but it really doesn't work well. Stick to the PSN version for now, folks.

Ambitious project, but not enough classic games are supported yet.

If you like Match 3 games with a twist and don't want to be hounded by constant microtransactions, pick this one up on sale. It should scratch any Match 3 itch you have for a single flat rate.

Then you can curse the cheating AI without the nagging undercurrent that comes with trying to squeeze money out of players.

It's Diablo by way of DoubleFine. Kill monsters to find loot. Use loot to kill monsters to find better loot.

If you like this kind of stuff, you'll like it.

There should be a lot to love about Skyrim. The world of The Elder Scrolls is wonderfully detailed with rich backstory and lore that goes back hundreds of years in game, while still remaining canonical to previous games in the series. That's a really rare thing to see these days. In the age of constant retcons and reboots, TES remains consistent.

The technical aspects of the game are remarkable. Characters have their own daily routines, hundreds of items and props can be picked up, interacted with and used. Building your character allows for a lot of freedom, with enemies and encounters that scale based on your level. Dungeons are designed with fun and unique enemies. Skyrim could possibly be one of the greatest, most ambitious games ever made.

If it actually worked.

I'm not talking about AI getting caught up on walls. I'm not talking about characters that say the same 3 lines of dialogue over and over. I'm talking about horrible, inexcusable technical problems that should NOT be accepted in a game this popular. The inability to run the game in windowed mode, even when selecting windowed mode from the launch menu. The tendency of the game to simply 'eat' the mouse pointer, even when the game doesn't have focus. You can't even reliably alt+tab to another window while this game is running, and horrendous memory leaks that cause even Windows Task Manager to go "Oh screw this. You're on your own, man."

Bethesda, this is absolutely unacceptable. You're completely fine letting people mod the game to add all kinds of crazy stuff to it as long as you can capitalize on them, but when it comes to making the actual GAME run correctly, you couldn't give two skeever tails.
