TL:DR: This is in my top 3 games of all time. It should be in your top 50.

First time reviewer here so bear with me pls.

Ive got probably about 500 hours total including console time. To me this is a game crafted with love. It reaches with its execution of genre but does not fail to grasp, or lose its grip. The beauty of this game is its meticulous attention to what matters in a game the most:
Execution of aesthetic & (fun!)ctional Gameplay.

This game is not different because of some purported reinvention of the wheel. It is brilliant because its a game that rewards fight IQ without begging for twitch technicality, It asks you reasonably and instead gently nudges you to out wit your opponent. Its gameplay design allows a quick grasp of the fundamentals and rewards you for cleverly constructing your own playstyle. Absolver in no small way is Darwinian when it comes to skill with a rare community in online gaming that enthusiastically aids you in getting better because everyone wants to have the most fun & the most fun is two opponents fulfilling their maximum potential during a match up.

I realize now this is where i should be brief because i will get into inappropriate descriptions with my love for this title:

Pros:
*Loving adaptation of Martial Arts to a video game.
*Its art style is unique, eerie, and beautiful
*The minimalist lore that hints at larger histories & epic calamities is a souls players dream
*Incredible community that is devoted, helpful, competent, & cares
*easy to pick up, rewarding to master
*The game is what (was) a functional marriage between the devs & the community is supposed to look like
* I could go on forever about the pros.

Cons:
*The game does not fulfill expectations to players looking for a martial arts soulslike
*This is a fighting game with the bonus feature of having a lite souls like rpg system integrated into it
*The game feels like it's incomplete at times. Like the world is so much bigger and it begs for more exploration
*Largely the game failed in communicating/managing its expectations clearly & people thought they were getting something different, this game is for martial arts & fighting gamers who like to think. It will fall short for anyone else.

I strongly recommend this game for people who may not have the same depth of feeling as I do for the reason that the devs have done a good job & they should be rewarded for their sincere efforts and love for their own creations. It shows when compared to the current industry standard.

I look forward to what's in store for the game as it progresses. I really hope it has some consistency in patch output but I understand the development has been a long road. A female Sprite and possibly a playable Monster sprite would enhance the experience. I truly think that the input delay should really be changed and a lot tighter. It's a very common complaint that Super Mario 2, 3, World, etc etc etc. Maybe even 1 have better response. I can see some of these were fixed recently.
Weapons dont need an overhaul but their differences should be more relevant. I LOVE THAT YOU PUT IN ATTACK ANIMATION RESETS. It is VERY satisfying to be rewarded with practice and skill at doing so. It's also a large issue for me that its viewed as a bad thing in other similar games & to my (limited) knowledge non-existent.

I think if there was also a survival mode outside of mortal, where you started with all the upgrades and made health & mana more scarce with simple checkpoints & higher weapon drop rates it should not only be attainable with the current assets of the game. I dont think it's worth 20 bucks to everyone but I know i got this game on subjective taste rather than any slightly more objective elements such as others have stated themselves. Nor did i have wide expectations for it. I found out about it randomly a few weeks back when it came out.

I dont really care for Procedurally Genned however A LOT of people expected that. Maybe this gametype i suggested could really simplify the use of the assets. However I'm not a dev so I dont know the complexity of it.

Overall really great game & product. I deeply respect labors of Love and Ill support them more readily than i will big name "blockbuster" games.

I suggest this game for those who like something of moderate difficulty, where enemies are obstacles rather than AI (which i dont mind my enemies being like puzzles) & who wants a fairly relaxing experience. The game is a sensation. I do however think it's needs to be no more than 15 dollars and no less than 10. If it was 5 the game would go like friggin hot cakes.
