I was initially hesitant to recommend the game before, but most of my concerns with the game's tedious grind are being addressed and it seems the devs are going in the right direction.

I've been following the game for a while, so I was excited to see that the early access had finally dropped, and while what I got wasn't exactly what I was expecting, I still had quite a bit of fun with the systems the game currently has to offer.

The combat is somewhat like For Honor with directional attacks, with more of a soulslike RPG system added in for spice, with plenty of different skills and spells to play around with. Overall, the combat feels pretty engaging and I think it's a solid foundation for the game.

Where things get messy is the questing system currently, which to be fair, seems to be what they're actively working on. When I put in most of my time, quests were just "Do x attack" or "Find and kill x enemy" which led me to be frustrated trying to figure out where I was supposed to go, because I believe just about everything is randomly generated, and you could pick up a quest where you end up roaming the world before you find a single area relevant to your task. What I would like to see is more story or campaign style content with unique bosses or dungeons for more variety, as right now, most of the time I spent was just farming bandit camps.

Give the game a chance if you're interested in the combat, otherwise, follow and wishlist it if the game interests you, but you want to see where it goes. I'm definitely going to be coming back for more.

For an early access game it's already shaping up to be a very good arcade racing game reminiscent of the 00's console gen. Runs well and is fun to play, but my issues come down to the game's progression. A lot of races will end up being very one-sided, where someone ends up getting completely outperformed and 150 yards behind the other before the race ends. In the 2nd half of the available early access races, the issues with progression really start to show, as there are bosses who have more horsepower than many of the cars that are available to you. If you want to progress, you need to either invest the limited amount of perks that you have into models of cars that you don't want (and risk not being able to get other cars that you want later), or hope that you can cheese the opponent by getting them to crash (which ends up happening more than I'd like). If Genki took another pass at the progression to minimize the amount of one-sided swing races and make them more engaging, that would address essentially all the issues that I have with the EA so far.

TL;DR: Game is fun, but later races end up feeling either way too easy or impossible unless you cheese them because of the current pacing of progression.
