My recent experience with Helldivers on Steam has left me conflicted. On one hand, the game itself is fantastic, offering hours of cooperative fun and strategic gameplay. On the other hand, the mandatory linking of a PlayStation Network (PSN) account, even for non-PlayStation players, is a frustrating and unnecessary hurdle.

Let me be clear: I have no intention of playing Helldivers on a PlayStation console. However, being forced to create and link a PSN account just to access the game on Steam version feels like an arbitrary barrier.

While I understand the potential benefits of account linking for cross-platform features or progress tracking, it should always be an optional choice for players. Forcing every player, regardless of their platform preference, to go through this process is simply inconvenient.

Moreover, this requirement can inadvertently exclude players from regions or countries where PlayStation services are limited or unavailable. Gaming should be about breaking barriers, not erecting new ones based on platform preferences.

I urge the developers and publishers of Helldivers to reconsider this decision. By keepoing account linking optional rather than mandatory, you can enhance the player experience and avoid alienating a portion of your player base. Until this issue is resolved, I find it challenging to fully endorse Helldivers to others who may share my frustrations.
