Lets start with the good:
- Physics are great. I like the FFB on my Simagic Alpha.
- Close racing is possible without getting killed instantly.
- The netcode is solid.
- The cars feel alive and are well made.

Neutral:
- No modding-support
- Content is limited, but the content is well executed
- Why is there no seperat driver rating for each class... It forces people to stay within their class or they get destroyed and drop in rating
- Singleplayer is solid, but why can't I mix classes and cars from different years???

Bad:
- The pricing structure is bad and feels unnacessary greedy. The value for their subcription is just bad.
- No possibility to drive with friends on a dedicated server.
- Custom skins even for singleplayer are behind a paywall.

Due their pricing strategy and no offline MP I can't recommend the game.

Edit: 11.1.26 still no dedicated servers

This game is going to destroy the franchise or save it.

Battlefield 2042 Core-Gameplay is garbage and here is why:

The few weapons which are existing feel awkward. Recoil feels random in my opinion. Time-to-kill is too long on some weapons (AK) and way too short on some others (PP-19). Furthermore, the known rock-paper-mechanic is gone. Either as infantry you will get killed by a tank or an AA or get f***** by a kill farming helicopter or the very annoying Halo aka flying gunship aka Rooftop-cleaner aka DICE WTF!. Or as a tank you get one-hitted by 10 incoming AT missiles, because everyone has a rocket launcher.

The Operators don't feel very useful, and I don't exactly enjoy them, except Maverick which is kind of fun. My beloved class-system which was seen since BF3 is gone and the teamplay with it. Nobody is reviving or playing as a team except for a small group of players. Love u <3

The Maps are too large and wide open. If you are on foot, you will get killed by snipers, tanks, rooftop-cleaners, jets, and DMR-players before you reach the next objective. Did you ever try to outrun a tank on a plain field?
The promoted vertical gameplay is a joke.

The combination off wide-ass maps and 128 players which are chasing flag points is a disaster. On most maps there will only be action in three of the Zones. Just a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. This Problem is even worse in breakthrough. 128 idiots chasing 1-2 objectives is just not fun, except for the kill greedy pilots.

Hazardzone:
No idea didn't play it.

Portal:
Different story

Portal has potential to save the franchise. No freaky operators, no random skins, good gameplay if you like it. The Portal-editor has potential. The most fun experience I had was on my lonely Server playing Noshar Canals with and against bots with increased global dmg and headshot multiplier and without operator-gadgets.

Bugs:
Enough

Performance:
45fps/55fps - 1070ti + 4790k + 16gb Ram + new clean Win 10. Doesn't matter if I play on low or high settings.

Server:
stable, for now (19.11.21;15:00)

What should be fixed:
-Remove the core game, before it is too late and focus on Portal.
-Or rework the hole gameplay
-Performance
-Bugs (No na net)

What should be added:
-More small maps which are fun
-Even more features for Portal
-Lan
-Offline Bot gameplay
-Persistent Servers - the most important thing for a good community

Conclusions:

I would not recommend the game at this time for about 60€. It's way too pricy and the content is not good.
If you want a genuine Battlefield experience, get Battlefield 4. Much more content, good looking even for an eight-year-old game, good gameplay, and a great community.

And finally: This is just my opinion, so take it with a grain of salt. Furthermore, pls don't hate me for the absolute obliteration of the English-language, I'm not a native speaker.
