Serpent Showdown is a charming little local two-player fighting game!
Some friends of mine worked on it, and I think it's a real gem.

Things I love:

- How goofy the vibe is! The snakes are so cute
- Simple controls: there are only 2 buttons (and a joystick for movement) and aiming is automatic
- Projectiles, defending and parrying add a deceptive amount of depth to matches
- Quick rounds: great for a party game (or settling an argument)
- The music is super catchy!
- Free snake facts on the main menu 🐍

Things that could be better:

- No controller remapping: you can do it in Steam, but that's fiddly and can mess up menu controls
- Variety: more stages, or even power-ups could spice up matches
- Graphics: on the technical side, shadows cut off close to the camera, and the lighting feels a bit harsh IMO.
- Art direction: As mentioned the snakes are so cute - but feels like there's untapped potential to add more texture and cartoony charm to the characters and environment
- The big one - you need two controllers to play! A single player tutorial, practice mode or versus mode with a computer player would be fun.

I'd love to see this as a split-screen game on the iPad (a-la Cricket Through the Ages), or even split-keyboard (like Bennet Foddy's Pole Riders, or Nidhogg). And of course, it'd be great on the Switch. All perfect formats for having a quick spur-of-the-moment match with a friend!

It's a little Tommy Trojan for Snake Pit! What's not to like?

Open-world sports games are always a treat - and steep has a ton of variety that keeps things fun and fresh. The skiing/snowboarding is satisfying, the graphics are fantastic and really sell how relaxing (or terrifying) snowsports can be. And unlike many other snowboarding games you're not just going down tracks or over ramps - you're exploring a fresh mountainside, skiing between random trees and rock structures, and finding your own path. It's really freeing and is a great way to wind down.

Best 15 dollars I've ever spent - years and years of fun alone and with friends, an instant recommendation to almost anyone who plays games on PC

My favourite short game of 2019 - with cute graphics, great game feel, a stunning soundtrack and a charming, wholesome story. It gives me Animal Crossing/Celeste vibes, and exploring the island and finding your way to the top feels really natural. I can't recommend it enough to anyone looking for a quick escape to the woods.
