You know what, after playing since D1 day 1 release and pumping an absolute truckload of hours, after being disappointed many many times at the release of content, quitting the game for a while and coming back to a lot of activities to do is pretty fun. It may be overwhelming for New Lights but for me its been fun, all of my friends are playing again, I got some of my friend group that hasn't played the game to try it out and its alright. I'm playing the game again after 3 years and I can assure you that I still have a very hateful and loving relationship with the souls series. 10/10 really fun

First things first, the game is fun. Designed to make you feel like a bad ass, theory crafting in ARPGs like these was always my favorite thing to so. The spells look amazing, the voice acting is 10/10 in my opinion, the story alright but its an ARPG, we're not always here for the story. The endgame has a lot of potential and the fact that you're practically rebuilding the city from scratch is very cool.

Now, the bad. The online gameplay is horrendous, desync and lag spikes are pretty much common place when deciding to play online, even if its just by yourself. The magic damage buffs aka spell damage, spell crit, occult damage etc doesn't even work correctly if the bonus is in percentile and not flat. I've done a lot of testing with ailments, melee, crit, spells etc types of damage and SEEMINGLY, it looks like ailment damage and application chances are the only thing to work aside from flat critical rate and critical damage as well as physical type damage. I was a full mage build, I slapped on a greataxe and I did twice the amount of damage my occult based spells were doing compared to just slapping a crappy rare 2h axe and casting bleeding edge once. Not only this, but imagine doing a hard expedition with your pals, you expect to go out after about an hour of assorting the loot you want, exploring every corner and crevice for experience and that sweet loot/unique item merchant you have a higher chance of finding, only to complete all 3 floors, exit and crash right before you turn in your expedition for rewards of productivity for endgame, exp, money, maps and items. Or even worse! Bosses that have displacement abilities put you in a normally inaccessible area so when you try to get off, you can't or you simply fall down to the checked area of the bottom of the map: the very bottom of when the map started being created. I don't mind the lack of diversity in enemies in fact 3/4 enemy types is a fine number to begin each with their own 10 different sub species sort of thing that's fine and all. The thing that bugs me is just sometimes, having no gear on, such as a bruiser's chest, gives you more health and more resistance for God knows whatever reason that is.

The game needs a lot of polishing and clearly a lot of correcting since half of the Skill Passives don't work as intended and the majority of the Gates of Fate passives don't work either. The fact that the developers raised the price of the game after it didn't even work for half of the amount of time its been released is absolutely bonkers. Did you guys even QA/Quality Control the game? Did you even play your own game to make sure duplicating and "game-legal" game breaking things weren't in it? I understand a few funny bugs or broken code that can be fixed with a reload of the game but the fact that you decide to call this a finished product after almost 5 years of being in development and early access is clearly false advertisement. I hope you can turn it around. Until then, my review will be negative.

This game is amazing for those that want to play D&D with your online friends. Tons of assets for free on the workshop + handy dandy fog of war for tabletop rpg is amazing. You can literally play any tabletop game with this game.

Honestly, if you like bank heist movies and would like to recreate them how you'd like, this is the game for you.
