I love Tetris Effect, so when this was announced at a State of Play I knew I would pick it up day 1. This game is an absolute feast for the senses. Haven't tried the VR mode yet, but even on a flat screen it's an experience worth playing.

All that being said, man, I suck at Lumines.

I saw someone playing this game on a Twitch stream, and that was my first mistake. My time in this game does not include time on mobile. I try to stay away, because I have real world obligations (sadly).

I didn't grow up playing Clue as a board game. This version is the one I have the most experience playing, and as far as the core gameplay goes, this version is pretty faithful as far as I can tell. I've played both on my primary PC with Keyboard/Mouse (you really only use the mouse unless you're playing in private lobbies) and on Steam Deck using the default configuration, and both experiences were fine enough.

I have experienced some bugs, namely being unable to choose my character in the first lobby I join or make. There have also been occasions where the background portrait doesn't match the room the player went to, though it's only a visual glitch. Moreover, I find myself disappointed that the Steam version doesn't have native Mac support. Unity, which Marmalade Studios built this game in, features native Mac exporting options, so it seems strange that there isn't a Mac version of this game. I know Mac users in the gaming space are niche, but they do exist, and it's not much effort to support them in Unity titles, especially if you're already building for iPhone as this game is.

Overall, this is a good game. A great time with friends, but I would like more of my Mac-user friends to be able to play.

An April Fool's joke of a game that sure made me feel like a fool at the end. I went into this without any expectation of gameplay, but was pleasantly surprised with the THINK sections... until the end. Fair warning, the difficulty spikes caught me off-guard, and might do the same to you. The developers were kind enough to include an Assist mode to help with those sections, but the first time I used the feature, it felt rather hollow. The second time I used it though, no regrets. The art is nice, the soundtrack is nicely themed, and the story and characters were surprisingly gripping.

UPDATE 11/22/2023: I wasn't expecting the team to add custom music to the game, but it's a welcome addition!

I've been a BIT.TRIP fan for many years now (shoutout Potato Sack), so I was pretty excited for this remake. I'm glad to say that it did not disappoint! The visuals are very nice, capturing the low-poly aesthetic of the original while adding modern lighting and post-processing effects. They also added checkpoints to the unlockable retro levels, meaning less-skilled players (me) can actually beat them. I'm less than an hour in at time of review, so I haven't quite nailed down the controls, but that's purely a skill issue not a knock on the game. The soundtrack is another major highlight. Stemage knocked it out of the park on the remixes! In light of recent announcements, I should inform you that BIT.TRIP RERUNNER was developed in Unreal Engine, so you can install this game guilt-free.

Definitely pick this one and its soundtrack up. Support these devs!

This is a fantastic collection of iconic games, even if I don't really have too many childhood memories with them. Full disclosure: I was a Nintendo kid. We had a GameCube, and my brother and I had our own DSes. The only Spyro game I played when I was younger was A Hero's Tale, and I only remember the box art. Throughout my early emulation kick, however, I was intrigued by the original Spyro trilogy. I never made it very far in them though. Playing through this game was the first time I had completed any of the original 3 games in this franchise.

Spyro 1 is a solid time. It's fairly light on the plot side of things, but it makes up for it by being incredibly fun and having some iconic locations (for better and for worse). This is the one I tend to go back to for some brain-off platforming, and with only a few exceptions, most levels won't be much of a challenge once you master the controls. This remake also adds the Sparx radar function from later games to help hunt down some of the trickier gems.

Spyro 2 wound up being my favorite out of the collection, despite introducing Hunter into the series. 2 is a consistent ride. Even the stuff I'm not the biggest fan of (something something trolley problem) is still fun in it's own way. The music is great, the hub worlds are nice to explore, and I like the non-linear progression. I might even develop a speedrun category for this one (Low% NG+). This one is great!

Year of the Dragon was a step up in some ways, and a step down in others. Expanding on the non-linearity of the last game is nice, and I like that the Speedways have more going on than in 2, but there were some ...decisions made that I disagree with. I'm referring to the skateboard/hoverboard, those levels sucked. The other playable characters brought some diversity into the gameplay without shoe-horning Spyro into more limited movesets temporarily. Unlike the other 2 games in this pack, I haven't gone back to this one since getting 117%

The PC porting job is good for the most part. I played with a DualShock 4 for the authentic experience. I did run into some known issues trying to run the game at 60 FPS. Due to a bug, some things like the staircase in the wizard level and the last jump in Tree Tops are impossible to clear at 60 or higher, so you have to go into the settings and set it to 30 FPS. I wound up doing that in other parts of the game as well, so if you're wanting a solid 60 FPS experience, you won't find it here.

This game is good.

This was a solid mod. The overall production values are super high, with a compelling story, new models, and new music. I do have some gripes about certain parts of the game, like the junction between Old and New Aperture or the blackout section, but overall this was a solid time. It also did something that very few other mods have been able to: it made me spend like 10-15 minutes on a single puzzle. I truly felt like a moron when I finally figured it out. Highly recommend

This mod is great! The care and attention put into this game are evident from the onset, and the time travel mechanics add an interesting layer on top of Portal's already mind-bending mechanics. Despite that, I only really struggled against the final test, and even then I found the solution without feeling like a moron. This mod deserves 100% of the praise given to it.

This one caught me off-guard. I had no idea Lightspeed Studios was working on remastering mods, at least until a graphics driver update told me. My thoughts on ray-tracing as a concept haven't changed: at best I feel it can enhance a good game, but it doesn't make a game better on it's own. I'll re-emphasize that last point: Ray-tracing/RTX/whatever you want to call it does *not* make a bad game better. In the case of this mod, it just makes a confusing, poorly-tested mod run worse.

My first time playing Portal Prelude was many years ago. I got stuck pretty early, and never gave it a second chance. All I knew going back into it was that it was hard. Turns out, that difficulty is for the wrong reasons. Comparing this to the game it claims to be a prelude to is simply embarrassing. The original Portal challenged players to reconsider their preconceptions of the game reality to solve puzzles. This mod challenges you with turret spam and beginner's traps. That's not to say there aren't interesting ideas at play here, but it's evident to me that this mod was only tested by people who are intimately familiar with Portal's mechanics and engine. The kinds of people who see bad design and lack-of attention to detail as a fun challenge rather than as a mark against a title or mod. It's a bad sign when you have to include a reminder about quick saves in your opening movie.

This mod has largely been forgotten by the general public. When people think of Portal mods, they think of Reloaded, Aperture TAG, or Portal Stories: Mel. I think I'd be less verbose about my distaste for this mod were it not propped up by this RTX remaster. A treatment not given to any other title at time of review other than the original Portal. It places this mod into an unfavorable spotlight and almost gives it an air of authenticity and legitimacy. An air it, sadly, is undeserving of.

tl;dr game sucks lol

This game is the greatest game since Seaman on the Dreamcast. A true masterpiece far beyond games like Death Stranding and Elden Ring. A must-have title with riveting gameplay, immersive graphics and a truly cinematic score.

In all seriousness, this game is a delightful idle game with nice (albeit strange) lo-fi music. The charming visuals carry this game to a level far above its price point. You just watch ducks fall into a pool and float around. The diversity of duck that could drop at any moment as the meter fills creates an odd feeling of tension, followed by a rush of delight once it appears from nowhere. It's the same feeling as a gatcha game, but without the monetary investment. With all the DLC, there's nearly (if not more than) 100 ducks total, and seeing them all in the pool is quite the treat.

Some ducks have special interactions with each other. The afro-touting duck will spin when near the disco ball duck at night, and so on. These interactions help keep the game interesting, so I won't spoil too many of them. There's also a bit of a mystery pertaining to the metal door in the background, and it's strange ties to 2 particular ducks...

Overall, this game has been great for my mental health and terrible for my productivity. Highly recommend.
