Step 1. Get a machine that can run it. I got a Acer nitro 5 with a GeForce 1050. Literally minimum but it works for Oculus Rift.
Step 2, get VR stuff, I recommend facebook marketplace. Got the full set for $200. Buying other people's regret for the win!
I thought, eeeeh, it'll be "ok". First time putting it on though. "OH DAYUM!" it's pretty friggen awesome. Not too many replayable games but the ones that do exist never get old. In Death for archery (Dark souls level difficulty) and Blade and Sorcery for Arena combat to the max (from legit sword play training to psycho level violence).
If you haven't tried it, I've got like 2+ weeks of vacation time I can use, was planning on coming to visit and can totally bring my setup down :D
