This game has events and they are some of the worst I've ever seen. They all come with a bonus multiplier that remains active so long as you are actively clicking on it - sometimes giving you only as few as 5 seconds to click elsewhere before the multiplier runs out. You do not need to do events if you're just interested in the Steam achievements, but the rewards and currency you can unlock there do help with the base worlds.

The game offers no option for scientific notation. The buildings you upgrade also have names, but these are not visible in any place that makes sense. The window launcher is ancient and if you accidentally maximise the window, it turns fullscreen and there is no way to return to windowed mode other than by quitting the game. Microtransactions are of course optional, but they are obnoxiously present.

Support is great, though. Due to the need to constantly click during events I accidentally purchased an upgrade with premium currency, and they helped me refund it despite being clear user error (albeit one motivated by their UX).

The only reason I am still playing is because my spicy braincells have immense trouble leaving games unfinished, but for anyone looking for a fun idle game: look elsewhere, this one is too frustrating and I do not recommend it.

The story is incredibly well-crafted and it will be living rent-free in your head for years to come. The entire game itself is equally well-crafted, with both very subtle and more obvious design decisions. Everything is fine-tuned to guide you in the right direction without taking away the mystery of exploration, and it makes you feel clever while still giving you all the clues you need to move forward.

As someone who has never played anything in the survival horror genre before I was worried I might not enjoy this type of game, or that I might be at a disadvantage for not having played similar games. I can safely say that is not the case at all. While I have definitely missed some references and inspirations, even without recognising them this game is an absolute masterpiece.

SIGNALIS gets nothing short of a god-tier recommendation from me; a must-play for anyone who loves immersive storytelling and excellent game design.

I glanced the first few minutes of this game on YouTube, and instantly fell in love with the aesthetics. I'm usually not a fan of pixel art graphics, but it works really well in this game. It was the first Metroidvania I've ever played properly, and I enjoyed myself immensely.

The story can be hard to follow in the early stages of the game, but it all comes together in the end in a very compelling narrative.

There were only a few times where I felt I got stuck because the game did not explain its mechanics to me properly or the path forward was hidden in a way that was not obvious looking at past experiences. The feeling of movement and abilities also feels perfectly polished.

The music is amazing and helps set the mood perfectly. If you are a fan of metroidvania games that aren't too heavy on exploration, or the genre has always interested you: this game is definitely for you.
