Risk of Rain 2 is an amazing game. Gearbox made some poor choices(to put it lightly) and it is no longer the same game as it was when I fell in love with it. I do recommend buying it, but look into downgrading it to the version from before Seekers of the Storm was released.

NieR Automata is a fantastic game and I 100% recommend playing it. I do not recommend however giving Square Enix money for it. The Steam version has a ton of performance issues and bugs that can make the game unplayable for some users. I'm one of the lucky ones where it runs okay on my system. There are fan patches out there that fix some of the bugs and issues with this game but it is still far from great.

I could've lived with that and been okay with it had they not done a new port of the game based on "Become as Gods" edition and made that version exclusive to the Microsoft store without even touching the steam version. This new version has none of the issues and plays a hundred times better than the Steam version. This sends the message that they really don't care about the people that already gave them money. I'm not usually one to tell people what to do with their money, but if you are going to buy it, at least don't buy this version. Go to the MS Store and buy that one.

The speed, visuals, audio, and gameplay in Redout are all amazing. For the most part I have a lot of fun with this game and I have no issues recommending this to other fans of futuristic racing games.

The only negative towards this game is the AI rubberbanding. The devs insist that there is no AI rubber-banding or cheating outside of the first 4 campaign events but I find that hard to believe. I've played enough racing games to know when an AI is cheating. One example is that I can take a turn perfectly and still come out behind AI that bounces around the walls like a pinball.

Had I written this review even a month or so ago, it would have been an overwhelmingly positive review. The graphics are beautiful. The gunplay is beautiful. The melee is fantastic. It isn't finished in that it still needs more content like maps, weapons, and classes, but all around, it is a very polished game and I love playing it, so why the negative review?

Tripwire has opted to add microtransactions to the mix. Microtransactions have absolutely no place in a paid game. I was slightly okay with the DLC added to KF1 because it was added after the game was considered finished and they also added in a lot of free content after the fact as well such as new maps and weapons. Right now, there are not nearly enough weapons, levels, or classes to consider this a finished game, of which even the developers admit because the game is still is in Early Access. Adding paid content to an unfinished game that we already paid money for is not acceptable under any circumstances. It doesn't matter that it's cosmetic.

It's a tech demo for a water physics engine. Not really anything else noteworthy in the game at all. If it's on sale for less than a dollar I might suggest trying it out because it is visually pleasing and does have some fun shootouts.

Another game that goes sour because of a cashgrab from the publishers/developers.

UPDATE: Overkill has slightly backpeddled on the microtransactions by making them a rare drop and reducing the price, but this is still unnacceptable when the initial promise was no microtransactions ever. Their reputation has been tarnished and I am still going to be wary of spending any more money on this company.

The netcode can sometimes go a little janky where it won't show an opposing player throw a ball until after it hits me, but if you're playing with friends that are all close, this game has some fantastic multiplayer. Would make a great addition to a LAN party.

As much as I want to like this game, I can't. I love the music and the style. Hell, when the gameplay works, it's a fun game.

The problem is the mouse controls. Instead of taking raw input from the mouse, it uses the cursor position. This would not be a problem If you were actually able to move fullt vertical, but there are small gaps at the top and bottom of the screen where your mouse can be, but the paddle can not. This makes the game feel weird because when you move you mouse to the top of the screen quickly, your mouse will move to the top, but the paddle will stop at the upper limit. When you then start to move down, You don't move down immediately because the mouse has to exit the barrier zone that shows the score before the paddle will move with it. Using mouse position instead of raw input also means running the game in windowed mode is damn near impossible as well. If you're like me and moving your mouse up and down on a game like this alsoi causes you to move it ever-so-slightly to the left or right as well, you'll find yourself moving the mouse cursor off the game windows and you'll be thrown off because then the game isn't accepting any inpun while the cursor is off its window. This also makes playing with two monitors a pain in the ass because if your cursor drifts to the other monitor, then you're also stuck with the game not accepting any input.

Long story short, if it wasn't for a technical oversight on how the game handled mouse input, which is the only way of playing the game, it would be a damn fun game. Because of the mouse issues though, FLUX is only frustrating to play on PC.

The physics and combat styles that made the first one fun have been severely gutted. Dashing no longer feels nearly as fluid as it used to. I presume they might work on this in future updates.

My main gripe with this game is having to buy revival coins. If memory serves me correctly, in the old Gunz, if you died, you could respawn if your team mates made it to the next checkpoint. In this one, if you die, you have to spend a revival token. These cost real money to buy. If you don't buy them, you're stuck watching your team mates play until either they win or completely. And if you leave the game to join another one, you get red-carded. I refuse to buy items like this and if that's the only way I'm going to be able to do well in this game, I refuse to play any further. Maiet had something special with the first Gunz. It appears they forgot everything about what made Gunz 1 special.
