McDonald's initially resisted the calls to fire O'Grimacey but eventually caved to pressure from British Parliament in June of 1978.
O'Grimacey garnered a cult following in Ireland and the eastern United States and remained in the headlines for many weeks after being removed from his position at McDonald's.
