There is no flow, it roughly goes:
Brief fight which is then interspersed with x minutes of walking. Cutscene. Repeat. There is no build up, tension, relief, climax.
The moments of long nothing are the video game equivalent of dead air on a radio station.
I'm aware of the need to have moments of intensity and reprieve, but those are not absent of engagement in some form.
Those moments between fights are not that however. At times I am simply driving through an empty map, because there is nothing to engage the player when there is no combat.
No music, no dialogue, background events of characters interacting. The movie chapter transitions took so long on capturing Keyes I thought my game soft locked.
