It doesn't look amazing, but the combat reminds me a little of Dead Cells. I like the magic casting, usually just involving quick directional inputs to pull off spells. Thus far, I am fully behind the weird directions they take the story, and would recommend for anyone looking for an engaging plot.

I had an awful time trying to enjoy this. Any time one of your units gains a level, you can pick from Red, Blue, Green, or Yellow with no clear indication of what you need to build and why. My experience with "managing character relationships" was checking off conversations between characters from a list of the roster.

I got tired of this one pretty quickly.

It gets pretty addicting. If you didn't play the first game, or if you did, you will likely be lost on the story. Thankfully the gameplay is really solid. In general, you'll be delivering packages back and forth across a huge open map, while continuously unlocking the means to make trips shorter, easier, more efficient.

The social element (passive multiplayer, I guess?) is very difficult to describe, but incredibly fresh feeling. Most ways you interact with the world can ripple into other player's journeys, and the same goes for them. "Likes" can be given to these effects, which act as a sort of experience points.

The characters and setting are weird, unique, and well thought out. I love the ideas presented about life and death, and it's not like anything else I've ever played.

Except Death Stranding 1, but yeah, you know what I mean.

EDIT: I do have to add a caveat. Unfortunately, the boss fights are awful, and many combat mechanics will only function half of the time. They need to patch over all of that ♥♥♥♥ completely.

I was really disappointed with this one, especially after it advertises itself with "unique gameplay capabilities". I could not find anything unique here. I played it for a couple hours when I bought it, and got bored. I've now tried to start again, more than a year later, but that isn't possible. I am just stuck wandering around a dark maze with items I don't remember getting or have any obvious use for.

As far as "the world knows you exist", the game sometimes breaks the fourth wall by talking to the player.

I learned mahjong from the Yakuza/Like a Dragon games. This game reinforces all of that while filling in all the missing parts. The tutorial is great, and breaks down the game in a way that makes it easy to learn.

EDIT: Just noticed how mine is literally the only name in English. Most of these players have been schooling my gaijin monkey ass with extreme prejudice.

This one was sadly disappointing, and I found myself unable to finish it. "Supernatural Mystery" sounds really exciting, but this game is much more about magic and superpowers rather than ghosts, or the afterlife, or anything of that nature. Any kind of mystery solving is done in the same manner of matching statements on written documents, often despite other forms of evidence existing. This never grows to be anything more stimulating or fun.

If you somehow HAVE TO know what happens in this one, you may be happier just watching a stream or something similar.

I think Capcom kinda sucks, but if you liked the old RE4, you're going to like the new RE4. Most remakes should probably follow it's formula. Fancy it up without ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ it up.

EDIT: I forgot how wild this plot is. The President's daughter is kidnapped, leading Leon Kennedy to travel to an undisclosed eastern European country and kill every single person.

I grabbed this one on sale. It's got sandbox-esque levels with plenty of room to snipe, knife, trap or explode enemies, and makes doing so feel fun. I'm also a big fan of the "invasion" PvP style. It CAN get annoying if you're trying to complete a mission and keep getting invaded, but it can be switched on and off with ease.

It's not bad, but it's a letdown for a DQ game. Most of the style and charm are here, but the gameplay and mechanics are pretty simple. DQ7R really could have used more substance.
