It's genuinely frustrating that Steam doesn't offer a "neutral" review option, because that's truly where I stand with Len's Island. However, given the choice, I have to give it a thumbs down, which comes with a heavy heart after owning it for 2.5 years.

The core promise of "forging your own path" and exploring a beautiful world is appealing, but in practice, I found myself constantly bottlenecked into activities I didn't want to do. I wanted to focus on adventure and combat, yet to upgrade my sword and progress, I was forced into endless cycles of fishing and gardening. This mandatory grind completely undermines the sense of player freedom the game suggests.

When it comes to the dungeons, "challenging" isn't the right word. They're difficult, yes, but not due to engaging design or deep combat. Instead, the challenge stems from the basic, uninspired combat system that relies heavily on overwhelming you with endless enemy spawners. It often feels less like a strategic fight and more like a frustrating swarm where your only option is to awkwardly kite or get buried.

I really, really wanted to like Len's Island. I've held onto it for a long time hoping it would evolve, but it just hasn't "cooked" into the immersive, exploratory experience I envisioned. The potential is clearly there, but the execution leans too heavily on tedious mechanics and artificial difficulty that ultimately killed my enjoyment.

Pleasantly surprised by this open world mmo type survival game.

Awesome base building
Variety of interesting guns/builds and enemies
Bosses/dungeons/raids with actual mechanics
Average gunplay combat

I think what sets this game apart is their 6 week server cycles and character transitions along with new events and ideas since it is a live service online evolving world. The cycle information takes 3 minutes to read through and comprehend. After playing a cycle and a half now, I am still enjoying the new difficulty and look forward to the new map coming out in a month.

@ the people ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ about lootboxes that ONLY give cosmetics, how do you want them to monetize a completely free game? Would you rather pay for level boosts and backpack expansions?

After a decade in early access,
7 Days to Die has not only survived but thrived, evolving into a zombie survival sandbox that's a testament to its dedicated developers and passionate community. This game isn't just about surviving the undead hordes; it's about building, exploring, and crafting your way through a dynamic and ever-evolving world WITH FRIENDS if you so choose.

The Good:
Endless Possibilities: The sheer freedom to create, explore, and experiment is staggering. Build towering fortresses, scavenge for resources, craft intricate tools and weapons, and tackle challenges at your own pace.
Constant Evolution: The developers haven't rested on their laurels. Regular updates have introduced new features, biomes, enemies, and mechanics, keeping the experience fresh and exciting even after years of play.
Thriving Community: The 7 Days to Die community is incredibly passionate and supportive. You'll find a wealth of resources, guides, mods, and fellow players eager to share their knowledge and experiences.
Modding Paradise: The game's extensive modding support opens up a whole new world of possibilities, allowing you to customize your experience to your heart's content.

While Iris and the Giant boasts engaging gameplay, innovative card mechanics, and strategically demanding combat encounters, the overall experience is significantly marred by a persistent issue with game-breaking bugs. Following Palworld for the last 3 years I knew it was going to be a success, but not be this big. The creature collecting and base building blend very well with each other, but the progression you'd expect in this type of game is what makes it shine imo. It can be tedious harvesting a node a thousand times, but you can just set a pal to do it and just go explore. The world is massive, some areas feel a little more developed then others, but for EA I think it is in a great state.

Obviously it's only going to get better with time and updates, if Nintendo allows it. To me it shows just how much Nintendo and Gamefreak have dropped the ball on the Pokemon series. Arceus is a clear example. I am worried Nintendo will now come harder at PP after being so successful.

A beautifully crafted world ruined by mediocre platforming, uneventful combat, tedious goop suckage, and the most basic of upgrade systems. Even the puzzles require almost no creativity. Hard for me to not get value out of a bundle game, but an all white 1000 pc puzzle might bring me more excitement.

Enjoy this game very much. It has a great balance of realism / simplified material building that starts off semi-tedious, but the upgrade system let's you start placing and completing chunks at a time. There is a good variety of houses to build in different regions. Can't wait to see what they have planned for post-release content / dlc

As others have said, it is too basic and lacking in quality to be called Animal Crossing, Stardew Valley, or anything of the sort. I understand some people want chill games instead of super competitive pvp with learning curves, but this is toddler level amusement...

A visually stunning chill exploring and farming game with city upgrading elements? Sign me up!
Unfortunately, you soon realize that everything is so very, very basic and repetitive that you do not want to do the tedium of upkeeping your personal tree, day after day after day, cycling through the same 6 tools for what seems like will be an eternity before you unlock the next biome. Even after being bundled, I feel this was a waste of time and money on my part.
