Liked Half-Life? Buy Black Mesa. They did a phenomenal job on this remake, and it is uncanny how many places feel similar and yet look different thanks to the graphics overhaul. All the stuff on Earth is faithful to the original with some slight tweaks. Xen is almost completely different from the original, although with some core moments like fantastic Gonarch boss fight. Overall Xen is probably better here, although the barrel section is too long. The original Half-Life is still one of the best games ever made and this is a good demonstration of the quirks of some old-school shooters that can kill you quickly if you are not paying attention. Environmental hazards are everywhere and so are the alien threats. But take your time and enjoy one hell of a ride.
