Idk man. You need this, and then you need this, but wait, before that you need this, but before that you need this - while no explaining what to do actually.
My man just wants to go home, doesn't realize he died and the quests are not really helpful in that regard since they don't give you ANY hint whatsoever.
The constant running around with this slow speed + only be able to carry one log at a time made it really annoying to play.
You also have very low energy which makes it really annoying to craft anything in bulk.
I wanted clay because I wanted to fix the graves at my graveyard but I need that specific quest from the bishop first, but to get that first I have to finish the bishop quest and maybe now I should get it??? According to the wiki.

I do see the game logic and it can be fun for many, but def. not me.

Wait there is more?... Oh, there is a loooooot more Story... WAIT 131 ACHIEVEMENTS?! I BEG YOUR PARDON?

Wintermute, currently, is great, 4 episodic Story about Will Mackenzie and his passenger Dr. Astrid Greenwood, it gives a good perspective where they are, how things turned out the way it did.
I do recommend waiting until EP 5 is released, but if you can't wait, grab it, it's a simple yet good story adventure!

I do like Wintermute a lot, however I am really sad that there are so rarely news.
Not only did the Devs missed their target to release Episode 5, they also decided to only update the players on their own Website.[www.thelongdark.com]
So if you're not searching you tend to believe they scrapped it, which they didn't.
They're still hard working on it, and I firmly believe that its going to be a bombshell, they're talking that it's their biggest Episode to date and if things don't go south, all Wintermute Owners are getting it for free.
My stance is, Art or any creative thing, takes time, as well as making games, if Hinterland needs time, they sure take it, which is OK, but this feels like Hollow Knight Silksong where the Game was announced too early and people went crazy.

Take your time Hinterland, and when you released it, I shall update the review.

Wintermute's final Episode, is going to release on March 31st in 2026.
The end is nigh, and so I shall update my review once I am done with the game.

EDIT 2: (SPOILER INC.)

Now after the release and playing through EP5 I can confidently say, the writing fell off the roof. EP 1 to 3 were really great, interesting characters with Jeremiah, Methusula, and Molly. Everyone with their own background (except maybe Methusula) and their own drive why to survive on Great Bear Island.
EP4 introduced us two main characters, Jane and Mathis and his goons, now Jane is an ally that helps us to "defeat" or rather slow Mathis down to keep his Son locked up in the prison, the plan works more or less out in the end and we're able to get out. Many sidequests, explains the world a lot and what happen on Blackrock.
EP5 is where SHTF, there are so, so many logical issues, plot armors and what not.
How does both Mathis and Mackenzie end up on Perservence Mills?
Why can't we just, sorry for language, just shoot Mathis and his goons?! I get to use a literal buck shotgun. :D (Plot Armor)
Why isn't my inventory being carried over in some sections?
Why are there now help markers on the map?? Seriously I had to walk around literal hours just to find two corpses and the map didn't help me. There was like, one letter to tell me to look at the waterfall, but thats it.
Why is there a 10+ minute cutscene, trying to explain how the geomagnatical event happened but doesn't explain it in layman terms...

So many questions, but hey there will be a sequel to this whole ordeal, and maybe this story turns around again - hopefully for the better because I really didn't like it.

TL:DR:
If I could I would give it a mixed rating, however because I liked the majority of Wintermute EP 1 to 3 and a bit 4, I'll give it a thumbs up, but expect a good ending or a reasonable explanation on how this ordeal came to be.
Your quest as Mackenzie was always to get the case to Astrid, which you did in the end.

I like the game a lot, Single-Player is OK, like really a 5/10 story-wise.
Multi-Player is as much fun as BF3/4.
I do wish we had more cinematic knife kills like back in BF4.
The Battle Royale doesn't really feel Battlefield but it's fine I guess?
The XP Bonus are a joke, like getting 500 to 1500 XP per an ENTIRE MATCH which lasts AT LEAST 20 Minutes. :D
Even though I expected it, paying extra for the Battle Pass for an already 70€ game is absolutely bonkers, I will not put my money into this, I still have an offline life to live :D

Buying Silksong on September 4th, 2025 at 4pm was probably my most difficult experience to ever buy something on Steam.

Just got Ending 4 and I am down-right speechless. Only for 20€ you get a vast and expansive world that can only match AAA titles such as Horizon Zero Dawn or Red Dead Redemption. The Story is superb and heavily improved on, and the music, oh my god, the music. Christopher Larkin just showed the world again what an insane musician he is. What a feast for my ears.

Yes the game is hard, and that's totally OK. I mean whats the point of a game if it holds your hand 24 / 7? Is this Pokémon? No. It's Souls-Like that forces you to learn or get better gear. This is why games exists.
Sure they can implement something like Celeste easy mode or Hades God Mode but again, these games are not designed around that, neither Silksong.
It's supposed to be hard and thats great.

Thank you Team Cherry for this one-in-a-lifetime experience.

Well, I can finally play Star Wars Jedi Survivor after acquiring a big new PC with a 5080 in it... and I even after 10 Hrs into this game, I can't recommend it.
The Story up to know is interesting, the combat is still hecking fun like Fallen Order, but my god, the Performance of this game.
I thought ARK: Survival Evolved was unoptimized but this game takes the crown in my library.
I have a brand new GPU with new Windows (Unbloated via AtlasOS) and the newest GPU driver, why the heck do I get a black world when I leave Database entry? Why does the game randomly get smearing when I exit the meditation point? Why does the randomly force itself down to 30 or lower FPS?
So many issues after almost TWO years of Updates and patches... (In the time of writing this we're on Patch 9) and yet it doesn't work. For a Triple A Studio, this is laughable and sad.
Even with optimization mods, it does not fix it.
Usually I get around 100 FPS on my 2K monitor, but it still feels laggy due to the FPS Response Time.

I am 100% sure there is a beautiful game underneath all this performance crap, I will try to play it if I get the urge to, but until then I cannot recommend it.

Attached PC-Specs of my new monster machine.
I removed AtlasOS and run a clean Windows 11 OS now, doesn't fix the issues... gg.

All I just can say, what an experience.
It's so beautifully well done, a triple A game with no BS attached.

In my case, my friend bought the game, I downloaded the game pass, let's go.
Easy, no questions asked. No stupid login, no stupid launcher, nothing.
Just start the game, invite your friend and you're good to go.

Truly check it out with your best friend or whatever.
This game is special.

Probably the best factory building game out there.
Easy to tank tons and tons of hours, trains your brain with math and playing with friends to show how dumb you're.
Beautiful.

I thought Dead by Daylight had bad Matchmaking, man this takes the damn crown.
Still don't know why Controllers and MNK Players are matched together, makes it feel you playing against cheaters.
Maybe you're, I don't know.

Well I guess the devs finally shot the bird with this one folks.
Changing the Battle Pass from earnable by playing to buy it every Split aka 1.5 months really hits the nail in the coffin.
The game is already on a low point and some genius with a moon brain thought, yeah let's kill the last thing that makes us look human.
Bravo Respawn... bravo.

I do understand now why everyone wants a Titanfall 3...
