Genre: Metroidvania/Souls-like

Hollow Knight is one of my favorite games, so this was the number 1 game on my wishlist for years. We were in dark about release for so long, that people thought it may never happen. Did they disappoint? No. Did they deliver? Kinda.

The reason I love Hollow Knight is because of incredible world, simple, yet smooth gameplay and interesting lore which isn't complex at all, but requires deep exploration. Simple, yet almost perfect game. Hollow Knight: Silksong kept a lot from the first game, but they also added ton of other stuff, some good, and some unnecessary.

Let's talk about gameplay first. Melee combat is much more advanced compared to the first game. Healing is the best part here. You can heal midair, and this is literally a game changer. There are different types of crests, that modify your attacks and crests also determine number of different tools that you can equip. Tools in this game are like charms from the Hollow Knight, but also traps, which didn't exist before. You can set up many different traps, use bombs and so on. Game really gives you ability to have so many diverse builds. There are no actual spells here, more like skills. They are good, but you can just equip one at the time, well most of the time, so I would say Hollow Knight wins there. Many people complained about diagonal pogo, but you either get used to it, or change crests later.

Now let's talk about some design choices. This game is massive, but I wouldn't say that everything they added was actually needed. Let's comment on some of these choices:
- Wishes: They are side quests in this game. Some of them are interesting, some of them will help you to explore some hidden areas, but most of them are straight up waste of time; collect 10 of these, kill that enemy, find that NPC and so on. At first it's not bad, but after some time it gets boring. I calculated and out of ~43 of them that I did, only 5 were maybe interesting. Overall really unnecessary addition in my opinion.
- Enemy waves: There are ton of enemy waves, which were quite rare in the first game. I personally didn't mind them most of the time, however there are 3 bosses in the game that literally require beating wave of enemies every time you want to fight them. That is not hard, it's just a waste of time, since if you want to practice boss you need to beat these enemies every time.
- Runbacks to bosses: From what I saw ton of people also complained about boss runbacks. Most of the time those runbacks won't require more than 20-30 seconds. I agree that maybe it wasn't always necessary, especially against one boss where you need to do a bit of platforming, then kill wave of enemies and then fight boss. Just why? All in all, most of the time I didn't mind runbacks.
- Enemies dealing twice as damage per hit: I feel like this is just artificial difficulty. In the first game only few enemies in the late game deal twice as normal damage, while here it's a pretty normal thing. It's not a big complaint, I didn't mind it much, you get used to it. But again, why?

Slight spoilers ahead (not much). Story of this game is divided into 3 acts. First act is the best in my opinion, story was intriguing, mystical and I wanted to know more. It was also the act with the least wishes, and at that point game was amazing to me. Story reminded me a lot of the first game at first. Second act is probably the longest and ending was satisfying to me, even though endboss reminded me of Hollow Knight true endboss. There are 3 different endings to the second act. If you wish to get the true ending you will have to do some additional stuff and that leads you to the third act. In the third act concept of void plays the main role again, and I feel like it was unnecessary. I personally didn't like act 3 story much, and didn't find ending really satisfying. Overall story was okay, but nothing really special. Maybe I will like it more in the future.

Game is really massive as I mentioned, I did leave game idle a lot and I also got lost a lot, but I think it took me nearly 70 hours to 100% complete the game with only 5 achievements missing. World is beautiful, same as in the first game, there are ton of NPCs. People say how Silksong is harder than the first game. Well it is, but there is only one platforming that is optional that doesn't even come close to the Path of Pain, and there is nothing that comes close to Pantheons. It's absurd to even compare it. But yeah, main game is harder, but a lot of time it's harder for annoying reasons. Art wise game looks fantastic, they definitely upgraded there.

Pros:
- Gameplay is amazing and offers diverse builds
- Healing mechanic is amazing
- Art is amazing
- World is great, same as in the first game; ton of variety

Neutral:
- Story was interesting, but I didn't find true ending satisfying
- Ton of enemies dealing 2 damage per hit, not sure why

Cons:
- Wishes
- Enemy waves before some bosses
- Ton of unnecessary content in general, it's all subjective of course

Verdict:
I really enjoyed playing this game, I think it's a great game, they made a great sequel, but they could have done it better. A lot of times I kept thinking: "Just why?". They didn't disappoint me, but they kinda tried too much, and in my opinion having shorter more quality game is much more important than having ton of content. Healing rocks though. Anyway if you are fan of the first game, you must play this of course, and if you are not, please play the Hollow Knight first.

Genre: Hack & Slash/Souls-like

I am a big souls fan and I have played many souls games, and if someone asked me to sum up this game in one sentence it would be this: "Play this if you want to experience the hardest souls-like for no reason."

You play as the great general Khazan of the Pell Los Empire who fought and beat the legendary dragon Hismar. However, shortly after that he was exiled for being a traitor to the empire, for the unknown reasons. Unlike in other souls where a lot of items have some lore info, here that is rarely the case, and even the ones that do don't offer too much info. However you do find notes through the game, that will make the story even clearer. Even with all that story is pretty mediocre, and it has a terrible writing for the first 2/3 of the game, and then it gets a bit better. Example:
https://psteamcommunity.yuanyoumao.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3480397765 "Greatest explorer", "Greatest doctor" are just one of examples of the bad writing in this game. Last 1/3 of the game is a bit better, but still overall pretty mediocre story. Characters aren't better either, whoever meets you will have a need to say how they are happy to see great general Khazan, and how it is their honor to fight alongside you, yet even though characters are there, and you can communicate with them, you never see them help you in the actual fight.

Let's talk about best thing in this game and that is combat. Combat is just amazing and so fun. It kinda reminds of Lies of P, I can't decide which one is better. You can either dual wield axe and sword, use greatsword or spear. My choice was dual wielding. Similar to Lies of P this game also relies on parrying and breaking guard of the opponent. However, even when you break guard, first time playing you probably won't deal too much damage since all bosses have ton of HP and fights can drag too long. Aside from parrying you can also dodge, and do some special attacks: for example when red sign appears on the screen if instead of just parry button you press additional button you will execute counterattack which will do a lot of damage. Timing is same as for parry. There is other reflection, but I didn't use that. I personally mostly relied on strong attack attack, parrying, counterattack and in late game even block, since I discovered that block is actually pretty useful against some attacks (chaos). Overall combat is amazing and it's best thing in this game.

Bosses can be really fun, however from all souls games that I have played this game has the hardest main bosses. Every boss is a challenge. Starting from third boss there is no "easy" boss in my opinion. Sure you will probably get better over time and kill bosses easier, but all of them have ton of HP, they hit like crazy, do crazy combos, and attack all the time. And this is actually pretty fun, however since they have ton of HP you need to use everything in your power. Attack, parry, counterattack, block, whatever makes you survive and kill bosses as fast as possible. Most bosses also deal some special damage: fire, frost, chaos etc. This game maybe doesn't have the hardest souls boss that I have fought (that would be prime Elden Ring DLC end boss before nerf), but it has so many hard bosses that together in my opinion it makes it the hardest souls game by far. I played this game on regular difficulty, but you can also lower to easy.

Levels are just terrible. There are 16 main missions in the game, and while first mission is okay next 9 missions or so are just terrible. All levels look pretty much the same and most of them stay the same from beginning till the end; you walk through some destroyed villages/castles, you fight ton of enemies, they are just everywhere and not really a challenge, most enemies drop some loot, so you will get gear all the time, and then you of course have to check inventory all the time. Even though armor looks cool, you get so many what is even the point of cool armor, when it becomes so overwhelming. There are no beautiful views to see, just ugly cities, narrow streets and ton of enemies. And most of the game is like this. Level design does get a bit better and has more variety from mission 11, but at that point you have already beaten around 70% of the game. Game drags on and on cause of these boring levels, that I couldn't wait to fight the next boss. Everything between bosses was bad to me. It's possibly the most boring game I have played in my life. It would be much better if they made game way shorter, with a better writing and bosses having less HP.

Side stuff is also terrible. Of course first time playing you will probably have to play side stuff, and there are 24 side missions (I did all of them) to even be able to beat bosses, since again bosses have ton of HP and hit hard, so if you want to stand a chance you need to grind, and you need to grind a lot. There are also a lot of red phantoms everywhere that you can fight and they will drop loot, and for some reason up until mission 5, 6 I was fighting each one of them, so maybe 10 per mission, cause they are everywhere and I wasted so much time until friend told me that I will get blacksmith later and be able to upgrade gear using other gear. They do drop gear, but most of the time is not useful. So my advice, skip those phantoms, just a big waste of time. They are only useful if you want to call them for co-op, but don't grind them for gear. Every side mission has a boss at the end and most of the time those bosses are just reskinned bosses that you fought in previous missions, or some regular enemies. Side missions most of the time are just fetch quests or similar.

Quality of life is pretty good. For example while you are fighting boss, each time you die you will gain new lacrima, which is equivalent to souls here, and you can pick up lacrima just before boss fog gate, so you don't have to worry about losing them. Performance wise I didn't have any issues. It's not too hard to get all achievements, but I didn't even focus on that, and even while not focusing I got 53 of 57.

Pros:
- Amazing gameplay
- Cool "bonfire" design
- Quality of life is decent

Neutral:
- Bosses are fun, but they do have ton of HP

Cons:
- Terrible level design, too repetitive, barely any beautiful landscapes and too many enemies to fight that usually pose no challenge (gets better late game)
- Terrible edgy writing (gets a bit better late game)
- Terrible side missions
- Side missions bosses are just reskinned main bosses most of the time
- Red phantoms everywhere without explanation
- Too much gear drops
- You are great general Khazan yet most bosses can kick your ass easily

Verdict:
Only reason I have finished this game is cause I am a big souls fan and I wanted to see how big of challenge this game is. Sure it's a big challenge, but it is possibly the most boring game I have ever played, top 3 for sure. If you don't mind grind and boring levels, then go for it, but if you want game with similar gameplay I would advise Lies of P or of course Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice.

Genre: Action-Adventure/Mythology

This game is based on the novel Journey to the West. Sun Wukong is the main protagonist of that journey, and I would advise watching some summary before playing the game, to understand how insane he is and what he did. He was also an inspiration for Goku.

I didn't tag this game as Souls-like because I don't think it is. When you die, you don't lose "souls". Lore is way more detailed and not as hidden as in Souls games where you need to read item descriptions and listen to NPCs. Here most of the lore is found by just killing new enemies which unlock new entry in the journal. There are no stats like strength, dexterity etc. instead you have skill trees with so many things to upgrade. Also if you explore everything this game will be easier than Souls games most of the time. Black Myth: Wukong is the game on its own, the epic game for itself.

The first thing you can notice when you start this game is that in only a few seconds you are greeted by some colossal beings. I was amazed as soon as the game started, and the prologue itself is absolutely incredible. Slight spoiler, but in prologue you play as Sun Wukong, and after that game is divided into 6 chapters, where you are playing as Destined One years later trying to "wake up" Sun Wukong. Every time you kill a new enemy you will get some journal entry, which is a short story which has references to the Chinese folklore or Journey to the West, and reading these stories is necessary to understand the story. Sometimes I had to google, because the names were not explained. These stories are also usually very interesting, but there are so many of them so I would advise on reading them as soon as you get them, cause they can pile up. There are around 200 in total and some of them are connected where story continues from one entry to another.

The story itself is pretty interesting, and there are a lot of amazing cutscenes. Each of the first 5 chapters features a new story set in some new world. Each of these chapters has some main "villain" that you need to beat to get the rune.

When I first started playing this game, after overwhelming prologue, chapter 1 felt a bit rushed and kinda underwhelming, because if you don't read those journal entries the whole chapter will feel like the boss rush, but after some time I started liking it. Chapter 2 is definitely way bigger and opens way more, however it's a big desert, so it can get tiring. Chapter 3 is where things got very interesting and very confusing, because it is so big, and it branches so much. At first it felt okay, but then I reached a big forest with snow everywhere, and everything looked similar, you could go anywhere, like in 15 directions. Thankfully with those journal entries you can see if you missed something. And when I was done with this forest there was some temple area, which as well was really really big, and had so much going on, that the whole chapter was very confusing, even though it was very interesting story-wise. It is also the longest chapter in the game. Chapter 4 is also very long and it is probably one of the best when it comes to story, but it is a bit gloomy. Chapter 5 was kinda short, and it was mostly fighting bosses, but it was as well a pretty interesting chapter with interesting story line. Chapter 6 is very different from all other chapters, you are just going around and searching for some bosses, trying to find some items before fighting the final boss.

The first 5 chapters also feature secret areas which I would advise beating, since most of the time they will make the end boss of the chapter much easier with some new item that you got, and they are also very interesting. The game also features 2 endings, and to get true ending you will need to beat all these secret areas.

Throughout the game there are so many bosses and mini-bosses to beat, I think I have beaten over 100 of them, but I definitely beat them all since I got all journal entries in the game. Most of these bosses took me few tries most, and a lot of them can actually be considered mini-bosses, and those mini-bosses sometimes leave spirits which you can collect and summon later while fighting. It can be a bit overwhelming to fight bosses all the time, but eventually I got used to it, and since I mostly beat them all on first or second try, it felt like fighting regular enemies eventually. The problem with fighting so many bosses is that rarely any boss will be memorable. If you explore everything and you are "good" at Souls games you will not have problems with this game. Only one boss in this game which is necessary to beat to get true ending took me a lot of tries, I think I needed a few hours. Boss is so epic and hard, and in my personal experience it's 2nd hardest boss from all bosses I've ever fought including all Souls games.

Combat is just incredible, it's so fun, one of the best I have seen. Destined One is wielding staff so fast, and he is so fast that you can just dodge anything and you need to dodge all the time. You also need to make the best use of spells that you get through the game. One spell will let you freeze the enemy for few seconds. One spell will make duplicates of you for few seconds which help you fight. I mentioned already that you will be able to call spirits, and you will also be able to transform. Transformations regenerate over time, as well as spirits (when you fight you get KI which regenerates spirits), but spells cost mana, and until you rest again at shrine you will not get mana back, so prepare to become good with your staff. Overall combat is just amazing, incredibly fun.

In addition to combat, there are shrines on which you can rest, fast travel etc., and while fighting you earn skill points which you can use to upgrade your abilities. You can also restart these abilities at any point on any shrine. You can travel from chapter to chapter at any point in the story. You can also craft armor and staff that you get from fighting bosses, and use some items to help you make game easier.

Game took me around ~65h to beat all bosses, get all journal entries and get most of the achievements. You can't get all achievements in the first run, so you must play ng+ for the rest of them, however ng+ is pretty easy. Only problem is that some achievements require farming. There aren't many NPCs side quests, but there a lot of characters. Performance wise a lot of people complain, and I also had issues which I fixed by using FSR instead of DLSS and frame generation on. I managed to get my game running completelly smooth, stutter free, but I had insane stutter at first.

Pros:
- One of the best openings in the games I've ever seen
- Incredibly fun combat
- Journal entries are so interesting
- Cutscenes are amazing
- Most bosses are unique, and there are many good bosses
- Pretty good story and everything about Sun Wukong is so interesting

Neutral:
- Chapter 3 can be a bit confusing to explore, it can feel like it's easy to miss stuff, but it's also really interesting

Cons:
- Chapter 6 introduces new ability, but it also feels so random, just searching for bosses

Verdict:
Just an incredible game, my personal GOTY of the 2024 so far, and of the best and most fun games I've ever played. I liked it so much that I ordered The Journey to the West books and this is definitely one of my new favorite games.

Genre: Anime/Open World

Like a lot of us, I've grown up with Dragon Ball anime too. The first series while Goku was still the kid is the best imo. After that came Dragon Ball Z, which was good, but has a ton of ups and downs. And then came Dragon Ball Super which was basically where things started falling apart and Super Saiyan transformation became useless. Anyway good or bad, I always enjoy watching and playing Dragon Ball games. The best Dragon Ball game I've ever played was Dragon Ball Budokaichi Tenkaichi 3.

This game follows the story of Dragon Ball Z and also has DLCs that cover training with Whis and Beerus, fighting with Golden Frieza, and future Trunks/Gohan saga. The story mostly follows the anime, however, there are some moments that are skipped, and also some differences, for example, Goku fighting Cell in his 2nd form which never happened in anime. The way you meet Whis and Beerus is not like it happened in the Battle of the Gods, here Whis transfers Goku and Vegeta to the place where Beerus and him are residing so he can train you. There are also some stupid moments like when Android 16 gets hurt and Bulma recovers him, Gohan and him go for a walk and then fight some guys, and in the next mission you are fighting Cell and Gohan says to Android 16 something like wow you already recovered, after they have just hanged out and he saw him recovered. So all in all, your standard DB story with slight changes.

The gameplay is pretty fun, and not really easy if you play on hard and you are underleveled. For most of the game you will play as either Goku, Gohan, Vegeta, future Trunks, or Piccolo, and for one, or two missions as Gotenks. You will also have party characters sometimes during the story and you can activate their abilities on your own while they are fighting with you. Those are Krillin, Yamcha, and the rest of the Z fighters. Every character has it's skill tree. For example, Goku can learn Kaioken, transform into Super Saiyan, and so on, and use Kamehameha, and other abilities that he uses in anime. Spirit bomb is his most powerful attack. While fighting enemies there are moments when both you and your enemy will use a special attack, some kind of beam, and at that moment beams will clash and it will look really cool, and you are supposed to keep pressing a button to overpower your opponent. There isn't too much to say about combat otherwise, it's your classic Dragon Ball gameplay similar to Xenoverse, but a bit better and harder. Special attacks don't have some special animations like in Xenoverse, so they don't feel as epic as they felt in Budokai Tenkaichi 3.

Let's cover some bad stuff now. The grind in this game is insane. Aside from the main story, the world offers a lot of activities, that are not really fun imo. You can collect fruits, go fishing, collect minerals, etc. and also there are a bunch of side quests that you will get from some famous DB characters, but the quests that they give you are fetch quests, go get me something, or go and kill those enemies, and funny thing in most quests these enemies will be some stupid robots from Red Ribbon Army. Oh and one more thing you will stumble on these robots everywhere on the map because for some reason they are patrolling everywhere. They can be pretty strong too. So you have a choice,  you can do sidequests, or you can play the first DLC. And why should you play the first DLC? Because while training with Whis you are getting some items that can help you level up incredibly fast, in 3,4 hours you can reach the max level, but the problem with this is that it makes the game too easy. You can also travel to this DLC at any point during the main story, whenever you need to level up your characters. And that's exactly what I did, even though it felt like cheating, but it's in-game, so why not, I would rather do this than spend hours and hours doing stupid quests. I didn't beat many side quests, but there was actually one interesting quest where just before you are supposed to fight Frieza, some tourists show up on planet Namek and you are supposed to defend them against Frieza's minions, and after you beat them they think it's all just show and that you are all actors and decide to spend one more night on Namek, so it was funny. The world looks beautiful and covers a lot of famous areas, like King Kai planet, planet Namek, Korin's tower, Kami lookout, and so on.

Took me only 36 hours to beat the game because I used Whis/Beerus DLC to level up fast, except that I didn't beat future Trunks DLC, which is actually good, but I was just too bored of grinding, so I watched it on youtube. If you don't use the benefits of that DLC, it will probably take you 70-80 hours because the game is not easy at all if you don't have a good enough level. Getting all achievements shouldn't be super hard, but it will require a ton of grind if you are up for that. There are also some things that I didn't explain in this review, like emblems that you get from DB characters, which boost your stats, etc. but it's not really important to talk more about it. The soundtrack is not like in the anime, so not really epic.

Pros:
- It's always cool going through DB story, and this game covers a lot of it
- Gameplay is pretty good
- Flying around the world is kinda fun
- You can play as different DB characters
- Cool looking world that covers a lot of areas
- Future Trunks DLC is cool

Neutral:
- Whis/Beerus DLC shortens the grind, but it also makes the game too easy

Cons:
- Insane grind
- Side activities and quests are bad
- Soundtrack is meh

Verdict:
If you are a DB fan, and you want to experience this story once again, it's not that bad, but only if you can get over insane grinding. I did enjoy my time with this game, but it's nothing spectacular, left me with a similar opinion as when I beat Xenoverse 2.

Genre: Hack & Slash/Open World

God of War original trilogy are the first games that really got me into gaming. I did play games before that as a kid, but I wasn't really gaming that much before them. However, when I got my ps2 back in 2010 I discovered these amazing games. I've beaten GoW and GoW2 around 8,9 times each back then. Then I rented ps3 to play God of War 3 for the first time, and it was spectacular. Even today in my opinion GoW3 is the best game in the franchise and one of my all-time favorite games. As for this game, I've already beaten it twice on ps4 before and it was a pretty good game, but for me, it definitely doesn't have the charm that previous games have.

After the events of the first three games, Kratos now lives somewhere in the north where Norse Gods rule. He is not as angry as he used to be, it seems like he has matured a lot and found his peace in the north. He has a son called Atreus and a wife who just died, and her last wish was for you to spread her ashes at the peak of the highest mountain. And that's what's happening in this game, this incredible journey to the top of the mountain. It will probably sound stupid to you when you first read it like this, but don't sweat, there is way more to this. As in all God of War games, expect that you will meet some gods on your way, it's a pretty cool journey, with a touching, emotional story about the bond between a son and his dad. The characters and acting are awesome, and later in the game, you will find Mimir, the smartest man alive, who will follow you and tell you so much stories about the world, gods and so on

Gameplay is amazing. First of all, your main weapon unlike in the previous game is a flying axe. You can throw it literally anywhere you want and call it back. You can upgrade your axe, attach special runes to it, which let you call some kind of magic attacks. What's also new are different armor sets that you can wear, and it wasn't possible to change your armor before. You can also attach some special items to your armor slots which will improve your stats, let you slow down time, and so on. So with your axe combined with all these runes and armors, you can do a lot of different combos, and they are awesome. You will also unlock some other weapon later, but I won't spoil you that. Atreus also helps you in combat a lot. While you are fighting your enemies, he will distract other enemies, and you can order him to shoot arrows and sometimes he will find health gems if you use the correct equipment. He is definitely a big help, and I pretty much spam his arrows all the time. You also have the ability to use rage, in which Kratos is pretty much invulnerable and you will fight using your fists and deal a lot of damage. The rage meter fills up as you are fighting. Camera angles are not as before, they are now zoomed way more and fights are slower in general. Difficulty-wise game is not really hard on normal, but on hard you will need to explore side stuff to be able to overcome your enemies. I didn't even try the hardest difficulty, so I can't say for sure.

So how's the world and side stuff? Well, the idea was cool, but I think that the execution wasn't the best. As you progress through the main story you will be able to access a few of the nine realms in Norse mythology. Most of the time you will spend in Midgard (the realm of men). While exploring side stuff you will be able to loot a lot of items, track your completion progress, fight strong Valkyries, and do some side quests. I was personally never fan of looting items, finding new gears, and so on, so I didn't really enjoy fighting while exploring. Side quests were pretty boring, so I just did them for completion. Fighting Valkyries was fun, and it was the hardest challenge in the game. I really enjoyed collecting artifacts, finding Odin's ravens, and so on. Aside from Midgard, you will also visit a few more realms, but two of them are just dungeons and combat trials, while 3 are story-related. None of these realms were particularly interesting to me, but they were fine.

Story bosses are mediocre. The first and last boss fights are excellent, but the rest of them are mostly fighting trolls, so I think that they aren't that good, except mentioned 2 and one more. Side bosses are a similar story except for Valkyries which are awesome. Took me 50 hours to 100% complete the game on hard, but I've already beaten the game before and I really took my time, so if you only want to focus on the main story with a bit of exploring t shouldn't take you more than 35 hours. If you specifically focus on the main story, you will probably be able to finish it in around 20-25 hours. Performance is okay I guess, it ran well, but not perfect. I had occasional stutters, but they didn't bother me.

Pros:
- Incredible gameplay
- Outstanding dialogue and acting
- Great story
- Amazing characters
- Touching bond between dad and his son
- Random Norse tales
- Sigrun, Valkyrie queen is the perfect boss

Neutral:
- Story bosses are meh, but few are good, and Valkyries rock
- Pace was meh, a lot of filler content
- Performances are okay

Cons:
- World is mediocre. While having multiple realms was cool, it's mostly repetitive. Side realms are boring and uninspiring, wasted potential, which I hope will be improved in the next game
- I don't really think that this formula of "open world" really works with God of War, which was specifically a hack and slash game, in my opinion, it would be a much better game if developers focused on the main story like before while making difficulties more balanced, so we don't have to explore the side stuff to be able to beat harder difficulties, since it wasn't that interesting to me

Verdict:
God of War 2018 is really a great game, and I had a ton of fun with it while beating it three times. It's definitely one of the best God of War games out there, however, I think that God of War 3 is the best without a doubt. I would recommend this game to anyone who played these games before, and to people who didn't, however for the best experience you should play the original trilogy, or at least GoW3 cause it still looks awesome, and that game is a hack and slash masterpiece.

Outer Wilds is the most creative game I have ever played. What I hate most about these kinds of games is that usually we get one sentence review like: "Just play it, don't read about it" and people are supposed to get hooked up based on that, so I will try to explain things a bit better without spoiling things.

This game is all about exploration, and to be honest I was never into exploration until this game. Story and exploration are one in this game, and here you play as one of the Hearthians, blue skinned humanoids with four eyes and long ears. Hearthians live on the planet called Timber Hearth similar to our planet, which has asteroid orbiting around it, kinda like our moon. Hearthians are very much into space travel, even though their technology isn't the best. Their ships have a lot of parts made out of the wood, which makes you wonder how all that works (it's a game, so that's how). Our story starts with protagonist of the game waking up next to a campfire, and then you are supposed to walk through village, learn how mechanics of the game works, a bit about the world, get launch codes and launch yourself into space. What is your goal in this game? There is no clear goal, but what you know is that ancient civilization Nomai disappeared few thousands years ago due to unknown reasons and left all sort of technology and written notes all over the solar system and you are supposed to go to space and explore and find as much pieces of the puzzle as possible. As you progress through the game your goal will become clearer. There are few planets in your solar system, and all of them are pretty strange and incredibly interesting. There are twins planets, one planet with black hole in the center, planet with large cyclones and so on. Wherever you decide to go there is so much to see and game can be creepy at times, especially when you are around the black hole. https://psteamcommunity.yuanyoumao.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2553698119 I am not gonna go more into details about the story, but the story is very intriguing and very mysterious. It's an amazing story with a lot of data all over the world to explain how things works in this universe. Where this game really shines is the exploration which is insanely good and fun, there is nothing like it out there.

Gameplay is really fun and pretty simple. You have your ship in which you have your suit that you have to wear every time you want to leave your ship, or you will die of course unless the area is breathable. Beginning area of the game has pretty good tutorial about everything you need to know. With both your ship and your suit you use jet engines to fly around, and you have to control your velocity, angle etc. to be able to land on surfaces properly. You also have your autopilot which helps a lot when you want to reach some planet without going too fast and missing it. Keep in mind that planets are orbiting around the star (their Sun) so it takes a bit to get used to mechanics of the game and zero gravity, but it's nothing hard honestly. https://psteamcommunity.yuanyoumao.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2553698317 In your ship you also have ship log which consists of map of the solar system and when you press on each planet you can reread important data that you have found through the system. When you damage your ship you can go outside to repair it. You also have to worry about how much oxygen you have left and fuel for your space suit, while ship has unlimited fuel. Now let's talk about most important thing in this game and that is time limit. You have 22 minutes to explore before Sun becomes red giant explodes and turns into supernova. This is happening because your Sun is dying really fast and that's all the time you have left. This doesn't make too much sense to me considering the fact that Sun isn't Red Giant at the beginning of the game so it's absurd that it becomes Red Giant and turns into Supernova within 22 minutes and this also isn't explained very well in the game, maybe my only con about the story. But don't worry all your data that you collect through the game gets saved in the ship log. After you die you wake up and cycle continues. Everything will make sense as you explore story of the game. Puzzles in this game can all be solved if you explore everything and use your brain a bit, however since you have time limit sometimes you can feel pressure because you didn't explore enough and you have to start all over again from your planet, but it takes under 2 mins to reach any area of the game, well most of the time. Sometimes to solve some puzzles you have to wait few minutes before you are able to progress further. I have seen a lot of people complaining about waiting in this game, but there is a trick. As soon as you wake up there is campfire next to you or any other planet where you encounter fellow Hearthians and you can use that campfire to sleep for a while. Time flies fast so you won't need more than a minute to sleep 10 minutes. Be careful how long you sleep though because you only have 22 minutes to find something new. This means that game can be completed under 22 minutes if you know what to do, which means that once you have beaten this game and explored everything there is probably little reason to come back to this game again since you can finish the game really fast. My advice is to not look at guides, which I did few times, because I don't have all the time in the world and didn't expect too much of this game so when I really got stuck I looked at guide even though I tried my best, but I would advise not to do that, cause you can find answers to all puzzles within the game, even though some puzzles are really hard (like you have to travel between different planets to solve puzzle). I made mistake because I tried to fully explore one planet before moving to next one, but the thing is to solve some puzzles you have to explore other planets to have data for that planet. All in all gameplay is amazing as everything else, but one thing I forgot to mention is that there is no combat in this game, it's all about exploration and avoiding dangerous places.

There is not much left to say about this game, except that getting achievements is not easy at all, I barely got 3 out of 31, but I am not an achievement hunter. Music is nice; characters don't have a voice, you have to read everything. Performance wise it runs pretty good. It took me 28 hours to explore mostly everything, I skipped few logs from characters, nothing important, but it all depends on how much free time you have and how patient you are with puzzles. I would advise playing this in shorter sessions if you have busy life, otherwise you may get fed up trying to solve problems and look for answers in some guides.

Pros:
- Outstanding exploration
- Incredible puzzles
- Amazing and unique story
- Amazing, at times creepy atmosphere
- Amazing gameplay

Cons:
- Sun exploding within 22 minutes while not being Red Giant at the beginning of the game

Verdict:
This is one of the most creative games I've ever played, it's almost a masterpiece. I am truly amazed by this game, but I will probably never play it again, or maybe in few years. Amazing game overall, one of my favorites games of all time, highly recommended.

NieR: Replicant is one of the most boring games I've ever played. Story is pretty good, but the design of the game is so bad, that I just can't recommend this game. Games are supposed to be fun, and this just isn't.

Story of the game starts after the events of the series called Drakengard and cause of events at the ending of Drakengard 3 some big problems appeared on the Earth. There will be slight spoilers here, but this all happens in first 15 minutes of the game. You start the game as some boy taking care of his younger sister. You have no food to eat, and your sister is very sick. Soon some monsters show up, and since you are unable to beat them, you take help of some strange book that gives you magic powers and with them you can easily beat opponents. As soon as the fight is over game skips 1400 years into the future, where you play as that boy once again, and he still looks the same. At this point you will probably be completelly lost. Not just that boy and girl are still alive and well, you are now in some peaceful village, doing some ordinary tasks. Rest of the story I will leave to you. Story is pretty good and emotional, but also really weird. Characters are loveable, with some depressive backgrounds.

Gameplay consists of melee and also magic attacks. You can use swords, spears, axes, etc. and also you have this strange book following you, so you can also use variety of magic attacks that you unlock through the game. Gameplay is okay, but the balancing is terrible. Medium difficulty is easy, and hard is not hard, it's just tedious. Enemies have a lot of health on hard, and it takes forever to kill them. So basically it's better to play on medium, since hard is tedious, but don't expect much of the challenge.

Design of the game is what I mainly want to talk about in this review. It's one of the worst video game designs that I've ever seen. Game is divided into 5 parts, same as NieR: Automata, and it's probably the same with Drakengard series, but I am not sure. First there is route A, and to beat it all you have to do is to reach end of the game. Pretty easy, and the route A is really good. Once you are done with route A you unlock route B, which is almost identical to route A, except you don't start the game from start but from second half of the route A. In route B you will see some events from different perspective and this is where I thought that this game may atually be really good. If game ended here, I would say it's good game, and I would probably recommend it. However, this is not the ending to the game and this is where game starts falling apart. To unlock next part of the story you have to collect all weapons in the game. Why? What does collecting all weapons in the game has to do with story? It's waste of time. Some weapons can be bought in shops, some can be obtained through the main story, and some can only be obtained through side quests. To get all weapons you will need A LOT of gold, and gold can be obtained either through side quests or through some dlc arenas. My advise if you want to play this game is to not do side quests at all until this route (routes C/D). Most side quests are terrible, most of them are just fetch quests, and one that aren't do not help at all with understanding of the story of the world. Automata did this better. So let's say you skip most of side quests, until this point in game you have focused on story of the game, and the experience is quite good. Now all you you have to do is to collect a lot of gold and the best way to do that is to beat dlc with 3 arenas, and then beat third part of arena 2-3 more times cause you need way more gold. Also you have to beat 4 boring side quests to get some weapons. I forgot to add that arena is necessary to get 3 more weapons. So you need to spend at least 7, 8 hours grinding to get all weapons, and this is only if you read guides and find best possible way to collect a lot of gold. Once you have all weapons and beat route C/D, which is basically route B with slight differences, you will have one more bossfight at the end where you will have 2 choices. Choose one choice and you get ending C, and choose different one and you get ending D. Make sure to save in different slot after beating route C. Then load save file before ending bossfights and go through 30-40 mins fights until you reach the ending where you will choose another choice this time. Now with both endings C and D you unlock route E where you start the game at the very beginning of the game. Play 2-3 hours doing same things like before until you reach point of the game where new content starts and this content is specific to the remake of this game, and is supposed to connect this game with Automata. Is it worth spending 15-20h beating routes C/D/E? Personally I would say no. It doesn't offer much to the story, but it's up to you.

Game took me 59 hours to beat, and my advise is to beat route A on medium/hard, I personally did it on hard, and then to beat other routes on easy, cause you already played all that, and you just want to see the rest of the story. Soundtrack of the game is great, but I prefer ones from NieR: Automata.

Now let's talk about quality of the port. I don't understand what's the deal with these big gaming companies. Are they really that greedy that they don't care about PC gamers anymore at all. Both Replicant and Automata are terrible ports. My configuration is this: AMD 5700 XT, i7 9700 K, 16GB RAM, SAMSUNG EVO 870 SSD, Windows 10 64 bit PRO. I should be able to max this game without any problems, but even on low I had drops quite often, and it's not just me, it's most people. However there is mod called Special K mod, you can find all about it on forum that fixes most of the issues and with it my game ran fine, I had to change some things, like enable 2 threads, but that's about it. I still had drops occassionally, but it was running fine.

Pros:
- Great story, but really weird
- Great characters
- Great atmosphere and soundtracks

Neutral:
- Decent combat

Cons:
- One of the worst video game designs
- Terrible side quests
- Unbalanced gameplay
- Terrible port

Verdict:
I am not gonna recommend this game, because I don't think that story is worth all this trouble, even though it's really good and emotional. If you want to experience the story just watch it on youtube.

Genre: RPG

Witcher 2 is a game where Lord of the Rings meets Game of Thrones, except it takes 100 hits to kill the dragon, and not just 3 arrows. It has elves, it has dwarfs, it has politics, betrayal and of course sex scenes and a lot of boobs. Humans are the most dominant race, dwarfs and elves are living among them, however they don't really have same rights. So that's why there is Scoia'tael, organization of nonhumans trying to cause civil war, or stuff like that, and fight for their rights. It's basically USA in 18th and 19th century. Now let's get to basics.

First of all, story. Story is good. You play as witcher, Geralt of Rivia. He has lost his memory and he is trying to recover it. You work as bodyguard for the king Foltest of Temeria. Game starts with civil war, and before that there is sex scene, cause there are 2 things that Geralt knows to do. He does killing and he does women. In Witcher universe, there are 5 important kingdoms, 4 at north and 1 at south, which is bigger than all these 4 together. There are few important choices, but I would say that only two choices are really important, because depending on those choices you will get 2 completelly different games. Sometimes you have only few seconds to choose, sometimes more. Story is good, but I can't say that I've found many other interesting characters. Main villain is pretty cool, Geralt is cool, but not many others.

Now gameplay. Gameplay is okay, it's not bad, but it's not that good either. Geralt has 2 swords, steel sword for men, and silver sword for beats. He can cast 5 signs. Aard - stun, Yrden - trap, Igni - fire, Quen - shield(the most powerful one), Axii - control opponent and Heliotrop which you must develope. I played this game on hard, it wasn't really hard game, but without Quen it would be way harder. I didn't feel like not using Quen since it's in game, but that shield is really OP, so I started feeling like with Quen, Witcher 2 is easy, especially after leveling up a bit. You can activate Quen as soon as you have enough vigor(autogenerate or with potion) and when activated you can take one hit without taking damage, so basically every 10 or so seconds you can activate Quen. It's extremly useful. Except Quen, Aard and Igni are useful too, and Yrden sometimes(Igni is crap in Witcher 3). Before big battles, or whenever you want, you must prepare for battle, by making potions and using them and those potions you make from herbs that you find around, and they increase your attack damage, renegerate vitality etc. When killing monsters you will get your loot, that you can use to craft stuff, or just sell. During whole game, I had a lot of problems with inventory, cause I would fill it up quickly.

Bosses. First boss was interesting, but the second boss fight was terribly hard for no reason, it was too early in the game and the hardest boss fight in the game, it requires a lot of attacking and dodging in the small place. It's pretty boring fight that gives you little space to make a mistake, I don't mind challenge, but this wasn't fun challenge. Same goes for boss before last, and that one can one shot you, and you have to hit boss like 50+ times, before you reach second phase. Other boss fights are okay. I wouldn't say that Witcher 2 has good boss fights, but they aren't terrible either.

Graphics are good even today. I've heard that Ubersampling kills FPS so it's suggested to turn it off). Music during intro cutscene is indredible, and later on soundtracks are nice. Problem is, it's kinda buggy game. I encountered singleplayer lag, which I've never seen before in my life, where I hit some enemy once and then 2 seconds later it got hit once more and then once more without me doing anything. Random stuff like that happens sometimes. Also interrogation at the beginning really feels like it's off sync.

Witcher 2 is a linear game, which is probably problem for a lot of people, but not for me. I've always liked games that are more focused on story anyway. When you reach some city or village during main quest, you have one big area that you can wander around, where you can loot stuff, do side quests, buy stuff, etc. However when you reach part of main story where you must leave area, all side quests will no longer be available and you can't travel back. There is no fast travel here. Chapter 1 is really interesting and pretty good, chapter 2 is the longest one, but I would say less interesting and chapter 3 is just closure. Took me 26 hours to finish the game, while barely playing side stuff.

Verdict:
Pretty good story, okay gameplay, good graphics even for today's standards, meh boss fights, and slightly buggy game. Story is focused on one thing, unlike in Witcher 3, and I've found that pretty good. It's pretty good game overall.
