(For the record I've played the original Bioshock and completed the game so ignore my hours on this remastered version)

An absolute classic. The graphics have been greatly improved and makes the game look incredible for a 2007 game. As of the newest updates the game runs both smoothly and seamlessy - as of my 10 hours with the game I've experienced no corrupted save files, no crashes, no FPS drops, no freezes etc. It runs very well.

Now onto the game itself -

The gameplay itself is extraordinary - the seamless way that both guns/shooting and genetic superpowers are woven into the game make for an incredible experience. As a shooter is holds up really well - there's a large variety of guns/shooters including machine guns, shotguns, pistols, crossbows, rocket launchers. Then on the flip side the plasmid variety ranges from shooting fire, freezing enemies, electrifying enemies. Even innovative ideas like causing enemies to attack each other or hypnotizing Big Daddies to protect you. The gameplay is fun, innovative and original.

The game also has an incredibly rich story. The story has interesting villains, a heap ton of twists and overall a rich and immersive experience that really drags you into the game. Although the game itself is linear, the immersive story actually makes this a positive trait of the game with the way the story unravels and the many secrets you find along the way. Definitely one of the best stories of a game I've played in recent years.

The atmosphere and immersion is a 10/10 and arguably one of the best traits of the game. The city of Rapture and the way it's created, the mystery and awe of it creates a cryptic and incredibly immersive experience. I can't put it into words, you just really feel like you're in Rapture. The many cassette tapes and radio messages also add to the immersion providing backstory and world building for the underwater city.

Cons - The final boss is somewhat underwhelming although it doesn't take that much away from the game. The linear style of the game and lack of side quests can be argued to be a negative trait of the game but in my opinon the linear style just adds to the immersion and builds up the incredible story even more whilst taking away very little from the gameplay. In fact the lack of side quests just makes the game a much more fulfilling experience, rather than adding pointless side quests that run the risk of taking away from the immersive experience and story.

Conclusion - BUY BUY BUY. In fact buy every game in the trilogy. All 3 are fantastic games that are definitely among the top games of the FPS genre.

Fantastic game. Absolute must buy if you're a fan of the anime and even if you're not the mechanics and gameplay are still amazing and incredibly entertaining to play with. They also did a really nice job of condensing the plot but keeping the core storyline there.

Probably not worth at the full price of 50 quid but definitely pick it up when it's on sale.
