Fantastic. This game delivers on a fantastic Alien experience that varies from stealth horror to action horror depending on how you play and the mission you are on. A blend of XCOM, darkest dungeon, real time strategy gameplay and solid story telling with horror tropes solid acting. Also you can name your colonial marines after your friends and watxh xenomorphs treat them to shreds. What's not to love? It had me stressed, panicked, hopeful, determined and full of glee as I mowed down xenomorphs with high level equipment. If you haven't give this a go. It's a lighter horror experience but it is still a horror game.

Review of a complete playthrough.

This game had me both frustrated and satisfied for a multiple reasons. It is not a perfect game, far from it. But it I enjoyed it a lot in spite of itself.

To call this game rough, or unfinished feels fair, model clipping on clothes, game breaking bugs like attacks not connecting or characters player and npc alike being unable to action and having to reload to fix it. The game struggles to run on solid setups and generally I had to play it on a mix of low and medium settings when typically I play on high, I think things like foliage rendering in excess may contribute to this. One other issue I experienced was being unable to interact with items, be they upgrades collectibles or food for healing, if the prompt didn't appear you could not interact but the prompt will sometimes only appear when you look at somethjng from the right angle and/or distance which may have caused me to miss out on some things.

The acting is wonderful, the performances are fantastic. But the writing in places feels odd. After the second boss there is a time skip of a few months, things are meant to have happened and the story has progressed but it's very tell not show both for our protagonist and the antagonist. I jokingly predicted a plot twist before the end thinking it would be stupid, only for it to be true which left me flabbergasted. It almost made me wonder just how the final boss ended up in the position they were in. Even with the further tell no show it made no real sense. It mames no sense and just feels like the writers hand waved it but it doesn't hold up to scrutiny. But does beg the question, would the story have been more interesting if told from a different point of view? A rise to power in spite of the world could have been an excellent direction for the story to take rather than the route of convenience and convention we had. Subversion for its own sake does not contribute to good story telling. I did however like the ending. The final scene was well written and directed. Overall the story had excellent and interesting ideas but didn't give them enough time for them to reach maturity and instead bluntly forces the story forward.

Combat is simple but interesting, frustrating at times until you figure out the right tool. Though you can also use heavy attacks to power through most enemies. The bosses feel like they have a sharp difficulty curve until you figure things out. When you advance your skills and unlock perfect parry the combat just seems to click. The balance of the game feels strange. While I understand it emphasises the sense of progression as the story does the beginning feels like a slog while at the end hardened enemies in large numbers feel near effortless. The same can be said for resources. Healing is precious and barely does anything but is scarce and yet there is barely any to find. Key skills like perfect parry and dodge are gated from early access by their cost despite them feeling essential. They don't trivialise the combat but feel necessary components of taking on multiple enemies. When you have all the tools those seemingly overwhelming fights are incredibly satisfying. I can honestly say there were moments that made me near rage quit. But I am glad I persevered.

This and the overall beautiful environments and the wonderful acting really carry the game.

It's a better than average experience, but it feels like they outsourced their quality assurance to early adopters of the game. It is a small independent team of 14 people that did something that could have been amazing if they took the time to refine the story and iron out the technical issues. Instead it feels just okay.

The social media comments about the "modern audience" have been latched onto by bad actors and have undermined what could have been a cult classic game. The marketing or lack there of leaves me puzzled, what even is the "modern audience"? It feels like a corporate buzz word with no substantial meaning. And while there is implication of a relationship between the two we meet in the opening scene it is disappointingly never developed or explored beyond those vague undertones. It is something that I feel leaves those searching for a the queer romance implied to be dissatisfied.

One other minor quibble I have is that yes while there are very clear hema inspirations for most of the combat maneuvers what is with the one handed weapon attacks? They look unrealistic and make no sense next to the wonderfully animated 2 handed stance. Why only have great animations for half the combat and make the other half look like the protagonist has no clue what they are doing? It baffles me.

As a partnered creator for this game my opinion needs to be taken with a pinch of salt.

TLDR: Despite a rocky start this has slowly developed into a great title.

My first impression in the beta was that this game Felt perfect. It captured the atmosphere of warhammer 40k perfectly. The weapons all felt like perfect renditions of their lore depictions. The core combat has always been satisfying.

However once you hit the end game there wasn't that much there, which ultimately lead to it feeling repetitive and unrewarding, there was only so many runs of the same missions one could do before it stops being fun the random nature of mission choices was frustrating especially when limited time events were active.

Since then the game has undergone a myriad of improvements. Gaining multiple new maps a campaign restructure that gives a clearer more focused narrative. Upgrading and item progression is now much more streamlined and the game doesn't feel grindy. New game modes in Havoc and Morris trials coupled with frequent event modifiers that are now always available to choose keep it fresh for the most part.

The Arbites DLC is fantastic as a premium class, it may feel overturned in the early game but balances out in the late.

I feel this game in its current state is great as long as you don't overplayed it. My main criticism at present is that new missions and morris trials maps should be pushed out more regularly to keep things interesting as nice as the modifiers can be they don't change existing missions drastically enough. My second criticism is the lack of variety in free cosmetics, a lot of which reuse the same item models, with small variations and modifications. This game feels great to play and feels like a premium product, I'd be happier if I'd paid a higher price up front or they had a battle pass system rather than this half way house where you pay for the game and all the best looking gear is paywalled, still cheaper than Fortnite tho.

Quite possibly the most amazing rpg of all time and this comes after playing Expedition 33. It takes a visual novel and makes it a game where every little thing we do matters and can shape the story from minor to hugely impactful ways.

The artstyle is wonderful, like a storybook come to life and the writing pulls you along and immersed you in its world. You'll feel things you didn't expect as you watch the characters grow and change with the seasons.

I want to play it again as soon as I finished my first playthrough. There are 29 different endings and I know there's a lot of stuff I kissed on my first run. I can't wait to see how the world will change with us next time around.

While the game had a strong start it stumbles into the second stage of your rogue like adventure where you are blocked by a boss that has a terribly overturned first phase. The upgrades you get in the main hub fail to be impactful and the level grind is beyond tedious having to do multiple runs with ease only to be blocked by that boss. The nature of the idle battle means you can't do much to actually work towards victory. Even with excellent drops and high level units there is not much you can actually do. Ultimately the game's length is artificially inflated and makes leveling grinds a necessity. At first the voice acting is charming but hearing exactly the same lines becomes grating over time. I had high hopes for this game but seeing so little progress makes it disenfranchising.

I adore thus game, 2 playthroughs in and I keep finding new things in the base game. They keep adding more improvements and driving the game to a more cinematic story. If you like classic RPGs and warhammer you won't find anything better. It's one of the most immersive warhammer games around!

Another hero shooter with annoying and patronising dialogues pair with good actors. The aesthetics are great but ultimately uninspired. The coordination required to win games forces voice chat to be a must have feature and the painfully slow pacing of space travel coupled with the tediously long wait times for the games to load make this game a snore. Nice ideas but nothing is unique enough to make it stand out other than the jarring dialogues that fail to make the characters come across as quirky or endearing but make it seem like they were forced and fake. Still it has nice actors and production values but ultimately leaves it hollow and unenjoyable. It's a game that Needs friends but premium cosmetics in a paid title makes me think they need to rethink their business model. Even after the tutorial matches don't have much clear objectives. It tries to do too much and fails to do any one thing well.

Do you like #wargames? Strategy? Risk? World domination?!

Then this is for you! Wrapped up with a delightfully over the top anime aesthetic and story. And an easy mode for those who can't quite best the challenging gameplay. Immediately likable and laughable characters help create a world of charm.

I can't wait to see what the next chapter brings.

An incredibly atmospheric walking horror game, short and sweet and gave me a good few spooks. I'm glad I had chat to help me get through some bits. Thank you to Perspektik for letting me try this game out! It was a blast intense, well paced and suspenseful!

Update: As Sony has confirmed they will not be implementing the PSN account requirement I will not recommend against this game. It has a few bugs but it has a great gameplay loop and a good variety of enemies weapons and missions.The team behind this game put out frequent updates and as long as they keep this up they'll continue to deliver a fantastic game as long as Sony doesn't interfere further. This is one of my favourite games in a long time.

I loved this game. However thanks to Sony's impending requirements to connect a PSN account despite having been able to play without one for months will cut off access to the game for a lot of people. And most people will be unable to refund it.

Sony's PSN is notorious for data breaches and a lack of security and they have the audacity to claim it's a safety measure. I never had any interest in having a PSN account or a PlayStation, there has never been any indication that we would clearly need a PSN account until recently. Just a tiny box on the steam page that has a nondescript mention of 3rd party stuff.

This change will cut off the game to a number of countries across the world. It is something done solely so that Sony can harvest data for marketing purposes and can only be considered scummy.

What a disappointing end to a fantastic game.
