Grand Theft Auto IV is an amazing game and my personal favorite entry to the series for a variety of reasons. From still unmatched levels of euphoria and advanced physics simulation, to it's stellar black comedy and hilariously accurate take on American satire there's many things to fall in love with about the game itself. However, what stands out to me above and beyond is Niko Bellic as a character, I cannot stress just how interesting and well crafted this writing by Dan Houser really was, and I personally doubt it'll ever be repeated with the same finesse in execution ever again. I cannot re-iterate enough how hard it actually is to create a Video Game protagonist that is as in depth on such an incredibly deep moral level as Niko. As you can tell from my nearly 1400 hours as of writing this that it keeps me coming back, and back, not for just Liberty City but for Niko Bellic. Dan Houser stated himself in an interview with Lex Fridman that Niko's story was one of his proudest achievements, and I can't help but agree with him. I'll forever be grateful for this game, from the first time I played it on my Xbox: 360, maybe 9 years old I was fascinated by the technological leap having came off of Vice City and 3 and I loved the game for it's systems before I matured to love it for it's S tier story and capturing that time and place that came and went that was 2008 New York. Bravo to the classic R* team, a masterpiece that will never be topped in it's league.
