The new engine helped me with the actual in game performance within the matches, that is the only upside.

I think the problems with the new menus can be shown with how they fixed the problems with the trait menu:
The trait menu previously had very little space, and was cluttered with big icons and very little information.
You needed to scroll multiple screens to see all the traits at once, and it felt "zoomed in" and cluttered.
They fixed this by reducing the size of the icons and added a showcase part in the middle of the screen. Thereby making it feel like picking from a box of many, instead of having to search through a giant catalog.
The other menus have taken the opposite course, bigger buttons, less information, and more scrolling/flipping through pages to get to where you want.

The engine performance is a step forward, but the giant leap backwards in experience otherwise, is detrimental to the enjoyment of this game.

A fantastic little rogue-like.
As of this review it has two acts and five characters, they all feel varied and have their own purposes and playstyles.
The Tetris upgrade system is a great idea, gives the ability to maximise and personalise for each individual run. Rather than just plain dividing the stats.
My only complaints would be that individual rounds might go a bit long. Especially when you keep chaining a single characters' abilities; a turn speed setting might rectify that.
And that there aren't any tutorials, nor internal places to see what certain statuses do.
Not that it's difficult to remember or figure out what they do. Just that it would just be nice.
Other than that, I look forward to what this will become in the future.

Releasing the game and then months after mandating a PSN account.
Making paying customers in regions that don't have PSN support de facto banned.
(Regions such as Belarus, Phillipines, and most of Africa)
Is a really bad move, don't support this kind of change by buying the game.


As long as the above doesn't happen again:
This game is good.
The developers have shown their ability, and want, to support their previous game for a long time after launch.
Their progression system (while formatted poorly, and micro-transaction based) is fair, and available to fully unlock through gameplay.
