This is my second review of rust as the game continues to change.
Now take this review with a grain of salt, as everyone who plays rust and is part of the community will have heard a lot of this before.
First off we need to look at how rust started. When "legacy" was first launched it was an in browser game pushing the envelope. It had many of the same features as rust today and in some places even more. This was my favorite game at the time (and still is) but lately things have progressed in a different direction. Some of the reasons I loved how rust was, the hyper realism the pve, and a good balance of resources meaning kos was a lot less prevalent. When it came to pvp you where hopeless without a gun and every player had a different weapon off choice with mods.
It seems like rust has been following a trend set by cry baby preteens who shouldn't be playing mature rated games any way.
I see all to often people eating 8 bullets and running into a bush never to be seen again. And as always there is the constant threat of the rag to riches hero who can some how pierce solid metal with a stick and kill you in one hit.
Sure the graphics look hella good, but we need some form over function. At least before when they where artistic and cartoony, people could still reach a playable fps with out building a pc specific for rust.
In my opinion garry needs to come back to rust, take helk off the job and reinstate his dream.
I don't want to play rust the rp fairytale.
It would be inspiring to see them make some of the goals set out in the road map. But additions to the game that don't turn immediate profit seem to have gone to the back burner for skins.
In a game that is all about pvp and base raiding/building it would be nice to see the introduction of new building mechanics and structures as well as craft able in game items other then guns and armor. Like the old temporary shack. As it is, you farm for a day. Make the same base you always do, then roam around looking for a group smaller then yours to kill and loot.
I miss the days of rage induced from some one out gunning me In a fair pvp battle while at the same time, sick of getting geared up just to find six door campers with sticks waiting for me and the very expensive gun I spent a day farming to make.

Rust is the very definition of the alpha disclaimer. It has changed immensely and will continue to do so. Do not get used to anything.
To sum things up, if you know what rust is and you think you'll like it after watching all the recent coverage and exposure, then yes buy it! It's better than you could imagine. But if your waiting for rust to be how you remember from previous versions... keep waiting
